    Hi all,
I bought a 550 with front end damage and must transport it to a friend's shop to start fixing it.
Since the bumper is completely damaged, I am afraid that the air bags sensors are exposed and might cause the bags to deploy if they were activated during transporting/repairing.
Does disconnecting the battery prohibits this from happening?
Do I have to disconnect any wires or plugs?
I ordered the repair manual, but it will take some time before I receive it.
    Thanks.

Didn't the bag(s) deploy when the front end damage occurred? I'm not sure how much impact it takes to deploy, but are you sure the car still has original bags? Just wondering and hoping to learn about how much it takes to get them to deploy. Good luck with the job!

I believe switching off the battery will do the trick.
But don`t take it as a 100% guarantee.... any one else can confirm ?

Goodluck with the repair. the parts are very expensive (I think the hoods costs an arm for example).
Also make sure there is no substantial damage to the chassis. Put it on a precise rig to check all is correct.

Hopefully, since the airbags haven`t deployed the damage must be minimal.

The bags will not deploy unless they have a power source----Cut the battery and you are fine..

Thank you all for your replies.
The air bags are the original ones& are still intact.
So I believe it takes a greater force to deploy them.
I will post updates when I start working on it.
    Thanks again.
