I'll keep my thoughts to myself, but wanted to share this video posted by a woman who stated she was the victim of road rage and the pick up driver got into a single vehicle accident as he passsed the woman.

Watch the video, a couple times, watch for the detail's in the video, then post up your thoughts and who's at fault here:

Seems like she was moving at a good clip. Probably should have moved over to let the jerk pass her, but it does seem he got what he deserved.

She was stupid to not move over. There's few things that irritate me more than people sitting at the exact speed limit in the passing/fast lane. She could've moved to the middle lane and sit there instead.

That said, the guy was an incredible moron, he got passed her and then took his sweet time insulting her like a 2 year old and it brought a massive smile on my face seeing him wrap his car round a tree.

I don't care what anyone thinks, the passing/fast lane has gotten it's unofficial name used by anyone who has been near a road in their life for a good reason. She would've lost nothing by simply moving over and let other people pass. Common courtesy and all that. This holier-than-thou attitude of ''I'm doing the speed limit so you're wrong'' is infuriating.

Should have just let guy pass and all would have been avoided. He was acting like a jackass but she was antagonizing by going 60 in left lane.

You are correct Bas as the left lane is for passing only not cruising. She was not only inconsiderate of other drivers but guilty of poor decision making, filming while driving is simply idiotic and dangerous. On the other hand the pick up truck driver was also inconsiderate of his fellow drivers. It is easy to point fingers and place blame but they both share a percentage of responsibility.

If I need to pass a vehicle who is driving under the posted speed limit and I want to pass them I always return to the right lane afterwards. This "law" is often the first one drivers forget. It could have turned out a lot worse when the pick up driver crossed over on coming traffic. Just think how his family would feel seeing their family member (via this video) in court if there had been injuries. I doubt his insurance carrier will settle a claim by him after this video is presented.

Just this afternoon when I was returning from class I was in the left lane and the closest vehicle behind me was at least 1/2 mile back yet I assumed my normal driving posture in the right/cruising lane. I could ramble on for days about this topic but what good would that do me?

Drive safe my friends and be courteous and make it home to your family safely.

I just heard about this incident this morning on a local radio station and they received a phone-in by someone who said they are from Florida and know that stretch of highway well. The caller said that the speed limit on that highway fluctuates between 45mph and 55mph not 60+mph. I do not know how truthful this information is so do not hold me accountable if it is not true.

I noticed that he passes her first, then there's a sudden change in speed differential so that he falls behind her, then he passes her again. So either she sped up so he couldn't pass or he slowed down to give her the finger longer. To me the fact that he fell behind makes it seem like she sped up, because if she was holding constant speed, then he should have been able to pace her pretty easily if it was his intent to give her the finger longer. So I think she contributed by playing speed games with him and egged him into going even faster to get ahead of her.

    Guy was a triple idiot.

She wasn't doing anything wrong yet he got on her case

He could have just passed her without doing anything (but NO --- he just had to pass her and show he was superior)

He tried to demonstrate his superiority by accelerating away hard and found out his driving skills were lacking.

Best of all though is that he's permanently on Youtube now as being a moron. Oh, and smallpenissyndrome.

    Perfect summation.

Guy in the truck is an idiot, and a bully.

As for the girl doing the video; that's about as "distracted" as you can get...at least when your alone in the car ;) .

It could have easily been her in a ditch.

That assumes the guy knows how to drive which seems unlikely based on how his drive ended.

Stupid holier-than-thou left lane laggards. I don't care how fast you are going or if you are at the speed limit. If you are holding someone up, and can move over, then MOVE THE F#$%$# OVER. Duh.

In this particular instance, *maybe* she was right that the truck couldn't handle a higher speed.
    But that's not her call.
Drive your own vehicle, not everyone else's.

And by videoing, she wasn't driving her own.

But hooning to show anger is the wrong response. He wasn't driving his vehicle first, either.
But some of that anger is directly attributable to the left lane hog.
    Both contributed to that one.

I've had to out-maneuver a few highway hemorrhoids in my time.
They're getting in your face because annoying others is their way of proving they exist.
(It's not like they have a lot of accomplishments, so they're trying to feed their ego on "road kill".)

The worst way to annoy them is to just pass them and then pay them no further mind.
Dismissing those self-appointed "hall monitors" as irrelevant will annoy them more than exhibitions of road rage.

Many moon ago, I was booking down a lonely stretch of divided highway at speeds faster than most would think was "prudent".
(I was young and rash -- and in a fully tricked-out rally car.)

Along came a rusty Buick at a pace that made me look stationary.
I moved over and let him by.

If he was going to lose it, I didn't want it to happen near me.

I wouldn't have tried that pace in that rusty junk box.
But he *was* keeping it between the lines.
That's more than I can say for the dweebs diddling along, blocking roads around DC at five furlongs per fortnight, taking their time -- and everyone else's.

Don't judge everyone else by your own limits.

For all I know, he might have had a custom suspension under that rusty coachwork.
(We were headed for NYC, where you might not want to show off a nice machine.)

After all, if we knew everything, why ain't we all rich? ;)

The guy was a moron. But people need to get out of the fast lane. My thought is that you never know why someone needs to get past. Could be a doctor trying to get to the hospital, a family emergency, a crazed lunatic...on and on. Just move over.

We don't know what brought us to the situation where the woman begins filming.

It is entirely possible that the woman antagonized the guy in the pickup. Otherwise, why would he be so extremely agitated?

    Woman filming rather than driving.

She had best be cited appropriately.

The guy got careless in his anger.

    He best be cited appropriately.

Entirely. However, just being a left-lane roadhog doesn't exactly engender good driving principles. And, being a vigilante to impede the flow so as to cause others to have to slow down isn't legal either. And, it won't make you any friends on the roads. Move over. Simple as that. Let faster traffic go through.

This was, however, local driving. It's possible she wanted to make a left turn, and that was the reason why she was in the left lane. Anyway, if I were a LEO, I would have cited her for impeding the flow and him for reckless. So much for her Schadenfreude.

The "moron" was also charged with reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to wear a seatbelt. The authorities did not reprimand the other "moron" for filming the incident instead of keeping all her attention on the road (where it should have been IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE).
