In light of recent events with a certain user, JVBJR, I need to say I am sorry to the FChat community.

Even though JVBJR had crossed the line with racial and downright nasty posts to other users over the past 4 weeks, I had no business attacking a user like that whether they deserve it or not.

It brings down the community as a whole when jokes go to far.

I crossed the line yesterday. It is not exceptable and I offer my apology to the fchat community.

    Matt

Matt, the fact that you thought about it and took the initiative to make this post speaks volumes of your character. Apology accepted.

Matt and I have been talking back and forth. Although the user was asking for some trouble and many users were involved, there is no reason to take the attacks to the level they went.

I'm handling Joe on another level, but Matt still crossed forum rules whether Joe deserved it or not. Matt has gracefully accepted a temporary ban and we should appreciate his apology. There are better ways to handle a rouge user than what happened.

You and I have talked about this before young man!!!

Maybe a time out on the steps would work.

Really. I have to admit, I didn't think much of jvbjr, but you did push a bit hard.

He, of course, was from the "I can dish it out, but I can't take it" group, so I see this as a "no harm - no foul" event.

Nice touch though, backpeddling after the dirty deed is done. :D

Looks like Matt fell on the sword..........

I think this is probably the right thing to do. Small price to pay, wouldn't you say? I did not see the other user making a positive contribution to the forum.

I will gladly do a day of Matts' time if you pardon him early.

Matt, well done. I admire you stepping up like this. The following is not directed at you; that said, rant mode on:

In general I think there is a certain gang of very established regulars on this site who take a little too much amusement in discussing fellow members rather than staying on topic (Ferrari/Ferrari culture). While I agree that any asshat trolls should be dealt with, going out of your way to pick on other members over and over again is uncalled for and IMO disrespectful to the forum as a whole.

Some of these regulars might be all fun and games, but their behavior invites copycats and suddenly this becomes another s#!t-slinging forum. Maybe I'm giving too much credit, but I expect more from a group like this, and I for one always try to keep respect for the forum in mind whenever I post.

As a new guy, to the community I think that Matt's character is why Ferrari Chat is different than other forums. I do second the comment that as I start to read an interesting thread it defaults to either smart sarcasm or personal messages between members or even into a different subject that the original topic. Its hard to control that but a technical discussion is not the place to be reading about social outings there are other places in the board for that or actually talking to each other by email or phone I know that I dont have the seniority to be making these kind of comments but I do enjoy reading the threads and have gained a great deal of knowledge in the pasy six months , so forgive the new guy.

    Thanks
    Martin

Can someone print some FREE MATTEO T-shirts?

Worked for Ms. Ryder. I'd like to buy one! Maybe incorporate the F-Chat logo.

Rob, I will take one of Matt's banned days if you like, I think the guy is pretty funny and although he steps over the line once in a while (i.e. Jimmy and Patrick), I believe the Troll Joe had it coming. Either way, will miss Matt's post for the next few days.

I'm fairly new to this forum, and mostly just lurk around to get a feel for the members and see what is being discussed. I have noticed that many of the posts lately seem a lot more nasty and personal (not to mention off-topic) than they need to be, which can be kinda intimidating to a newbie. So, Matt, your apology is comforting, and hope it's contagious.

If it was so bad, why not delete the thread?

Delete both of these threads IMO.

However, that would eliminate the possibility of "atta boy's".

Actually a true gentleman would have said in the Leland West thread that they jumped the gun on their b*ll**** comment and since independent verification had supported my statement. I sent him a e-mail asking him to retract that attack, and his gentelemn's response was to take that as the green light to attack everything about me, go web hunting trying to find any tidbits of info on me, and then try to associate all types of things to me. I have not seen any gentlemen type behavior, he has not apologized to me, he got in trouble with Rob so he apologized to you in an effort to reduce his sentence.

The only reason I am even here and responding is because Rob sent me an e-mail informing me of his apology, which I mistakenly took to mean he was actually apologizing to the victim, which would have been me. If this is your idea of a good man, it shows that you and I have nothing in common other than Ferrari ownership and as such I should not be here.
