Flabio, err Flavio explained in an interview, that he (as Alonso's manager) is against a transfer to Ferrari as long as Schumacher is still driving for Ferrari.

Alonso's contract is up for renewal and an extension with Renault is expected to be announced for the Monaco GP. Hopefully that extension will only cover 2006 and leave him the option to transfer to Ferrari for 2007 when MS retires.

I was finishing up school when Shuey was going for his first two championships. Still, wasn't Flavio part of that Benneton run because of his connections to the clothing family? How did he react/protect someone who had so much potential he was getting under the skin of stars like JV and Hill and a living legend like Senna?

A few years back F1 Racing did an article about FB and his invite of Trulli, Alonso and Franc M to his island paradise home (with his neighbor being former girlfriend Naomi Cambell,) to do some PT before the season started. Though this was just a PR move, he seemed like he really looked after his drivers and talked to them on a personal basis. That being said, a few years later when JT was being swayed Toyotas way Flavio responded with something like a 'Jarno who?'

I can respect his decision on being very loyal to who his on his team and agent powers. So if he treated Shuey with a hands off to everyone else type attitude in the past, seeing him try to get the most for Alonso today makes a lot of sense. He is looking out for his driver's best interests, which thus helps his best interests.

Clearly Alonso would never go to Ferrari to become second to Schumi and then hope he retires to take the lead. As things stand now why would Alonso want to switch when Briatore states that he wants to build a team around him (it seems Fisico is already getting the shorter end of the stick).

On a different subject it seems that Briatore as Renault team principal and Alonso's manager has a conflict of especially when his financially compensated both sides of the equation.

Flavio was Benetton's sales manager and started their business in the US. He did a great job in that and when they started to run their own F1 team, he became team manager.

Herr Willi 20% Weber is Michael's manager and discovered Michael and put him into the Jordan. In Spa everybody could see how talented Michael was and Flavio picked him up. Actually there was a major struggle to get him away from Jordan, all of that is described in the book "The Piranha Club".

The driver line up for Ferrari in 2008 will be Kimi and Alonso. Untill then, Ferrari will maintain status quo!

In Briatore's head its Renault = Alonso.
He doesn't care about Fisichella. You know Flavio had a fight with Fisi back in 2001 at Benetton. He said Fisi was immature.
Now in 2005, he has matured so that's why he went to get him. wtf?
Also he didn't care about Jarno.
