He would be the perfect Italian to run Ferrari IMHO. What do you guys think?
I think Ferrari doesn't need an Italian to run their team, nor do they need Italian drivers. In that respect, even Enzo wasn't very nationalistic.
Definitely. One of the best and most charismatic team managers would be the perfect fit to fill that big vacancy left behind by Todt.
Few reasons why not. 1)Toyota will pay him a lot more. 2)Luca and him would be a conflict. 3)Flavio would want to take an underdog and make them champions.Thats what he thrives on. 4)Ross Brawn is heir apparent.
While it's hard to argue with Flavio's success, I just don't like the guy. Maybe it's just me, but I think he's a big loudmouthed jerk. I say the Ferrari team of the past several years has proven that it's not necessary to be a big ugly jerk to be successful. Some may disagree. Me, I would rather win with class. JMO YMMV
That will be total entertainment if Flavio ran The SCUDERIA! Can you imagine Flavio and KIMI? Whee! Who knows, with Flavio, as the Prima Donna? It may work! But, there may be too many strong Italian personalities around the table, who will be the PATRON? Luca, for sure, and how will that mesh or clash? It may be what Ferrari needs to redirect and reform it's focus, with all of it's core leaving after Michael, retired. But, I don't think it will happen. Ciao...Paolo
- The big loudmouthed jerk made Benetton clothes popular in the USA. - Then he built the Benetton F1 racing team and snatched up a young German driver. He made the German driver a two time world champion. - A few years later he built up the Renault team (Renault tried for years to clinch the title in the eighties but always failed) and snatched up a young Spanish driver. He made the Spanish driver a two time world champion. I can see why you're unimpressed with him...
Also dated some of the most beautiful women in the world. Spent a lot less than Ferrari to win the WC. Flavio makes my list of 10 most impressive people in the world.
Neither Briatore, or Alonso, have the personality that would fit into what Ferrari is today. That would be a personality that compliments Montezemelo. Briatore and Alonso are far from that. When I suggested this to my Italian friends, after they got done laughing, they called Briatore an ass and Alonso arrogant.
With that I would agree 100%. For the obvious reason, it is Alonso my Italian friends think is arrogant. Flavio, they call a loud mouth. I think Flavio has charisma, and is a good manager. But he does not fit the Ferrari mold. The entity Scuderia Ferrari has become today at the hands of Todt, Brawn, Schumacher, and primarily Montezemelo is not one that would compliment either of these gentleman's personalities. Nor would they compliment the Scuderia. You would never see Todt or Brawn act in public as has Briatore. You have never seen Schumacher comment in public as has Alonso. Montezemelo would not approve. He is a soon to be politician, and could not afford to be connected to what comes from the mouths of the two F's. I also can not see Flavio reporting to Jean Todt.
Being w/ Jean Todt all these years ( quiet & low key ) I dont think I can stomach that ignorant Prick
That guy would be the demise of Ferrari and they are waaay to smart to hire an a hole like that. I second the thought about Jean Todt, they need a smart, quiet leader that get's the job done.
naaa....money has never been an issue for Flav. read last month's F1 racing, and u'll get what i meant
Just what we need: a team garage with hot and cold running models. Oh wait, we had that: Jordan F1. *That's* what Aguri needs: more eye candy! Money may not be the issue, but the man who dumped a supermodel for a scrawny teenager would likely go with Toyota over Ferrari.
