I'll be starting up flight lessons soon. Anyone have any input at the magazine called Flight Training? I've glanced at a couple of issues but I don't know if there is any meat to their articles or not. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I've been reading it, and I've found it to be pretty informative. It's nice because it goes into the real world applications of a lot of the things we learn about and simply memorize for the test/checkride. I've heard many CFIs recommending a subscription.

I subscribed to AOPA Flight Training through my Private and IFR training. I found it interesting and read most of it. I don't know that there is much competition for it either.

Not incidentially, I have found AOPA to be a very useful website and magazine. Again, I don't know that AOPA has much competition representing the GA pilot.

I have absolutely NO affiliation with AOPA or anything having to do with AOPA. Just a subscriber.

Check with your CFI. He may want you to send in an application he has with his name on it. If his students sign up for the (free) six-month subscription he gets some credits so he can get a free copy, too.

I find the magazine well written and generally a good source of information. Also, it lets you review things in a style of writing a bit more casual than most of the text books.

I discovered this magazine shortly after starting flight training. The more I learn the more I learn I NEED to read it!

There are other subscriptions I recieve heres the list

-FLIGHT TRAINING- MY PERSONAL FAVORITE!!(exellent material never a dull moment)

-Aviation Safety- NEED I SAY MORE?(I recently read an article "OVER AND OVER" because of the detail involved and finally fully absorbed this particular article)GREAT STUFF!!

NTSB REPORTER-(this circular sheds some light on the dark side,(usually)pilot error, pilot error....I find it ABSOLUTELY NESSESARY "BUT" I no longer read it before I go to sleep:IM SERIOUS theres been times TOO MUCH focus on this has negatively effected my confidence)I read it only when I'm in a positive frame of mind.

AVIATION MONTHLY-almost identical to NTSB REPORTER.

I believe a properly balanced "diet" of this material is A MUST!!

PLUS IT SURE HELPS ME STAY CURRENT WHEN I'M STUCK ON THE GROUND FOR WHATEVER REASON.Great stuff to open a conversation w/ at flight school w/ other pilots as well as my instructor.

My formula for proficiancy and progress is .........
FLYING/SIMULATING ON MICRO 04'/CHAIR FLIGHT/READING EVERYTHING I CAN GET MY HANDS ON/AND ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS .

Its one area in my life when complete focus is paramount and I NEVER know too much.
