My girlfriend gave me one for Christmas in 2008. It was fun for about 15 minutes and then I sort of forgot about it. No it doesn't seem to take a charge. Can anyone confirm for me it charges through the USP jack? It doesn't seem to have any other place for a charger connection, and I can't find a charger or manual or box anywhere. I've left it plugged into my USB hub overnight a few times and nothing... thanks.

I believe it has battery packs, depends what model it is. You have to pop the front cover off it, and it is behind that. To charge it though, you should be able to charge it with the USB.\

    EDIT:

Here's a link, check out the photos to see where it's located.

Thanks, A. I'm sure it's a USB plug-in for charge. Can't believe it's toast, though. I'll bet I shot 10 minutes of video max. I'll try it again in a different jack.

    What model Flip is it?

You are right, it is a USB charge, but what's the reason for the battery packs, that might be the culprit. Check the manual or box if you still have the stuff, or just check the website.

Some electronics just suck, we bought a Nikon that had a problem of it not holding a charge or accepting any new batteries. It was garbage since it worked for a good few months.

Both my flip cams use standard AA batteries. But both have died - no longer able
to store video without corrupting it....

Our Flip camera uses 2 AA batteries and does not charge via USB.

It's the Flip Mino HD. Cool little thing. I wanna tape it to my bumper and make a Seattle version of Rendevous....

I plugged it into the USB last night and got no love this morning. I was looking at it and noticed what looks like a tiny light on the base of the flip-out USB plug. Since the time I thought it was broken I hadn't noticed this light lit when I plugged it. So, I plugged it back in and wiggled and waggled it until it lit. It's charging now. Must be a loose connection inside the camera.

Well, hell. If it actually charged there's a bigger problem. It won't power up. I have now officially spent more time ($$$) on this damn thing that it would cost to buy a new one. If someone here wants to have a go at it PM me a mailing address and I'll send it to you. Thanks for the help. Please see my next post in this forum!

Mine runs on regular AA batteries and has survived two years of heat and cold stored in my car for instant use. Still works great and is a handle little machine...

Well, Rubi was kind enough to send it to me - Thanks again!

The bad news is it does indeed appear to be "dead" :(

I tried it on two different 'puters, and the little white "charging" light flashes, but it never starts up. There are two different "reset" techniques, but neither of 'em worked for me. I guess I'll mail Flip and see if it's possible to replace the battery.

    Cheers,
    Ian

I probably used it for 3 minutes of video the night my girlfriend gave it to me for Xmas in '08. Sat on a shelf for a long time and then wouldn't work. I don't THINK there's anything too personal on there but if so, please be kind, Ian!
