Does anyone have a rough estimate of how much flipping a car from its side or just lifting a car from its front equivocates in DL'ing? I know flipping is a bit different but just lifting the front should be the same. I know people will be tempted to guess but please don't give an answer unless you are pretty sure its accurate.
    Thanks

Depends on the car. You need to know the weight, the center of gravity, and the length of the lever-the distance from the point where you lift to the line connecting the wheels that stay on the ground and act as a fulcrum. Given that info it's a simple calculation that any high-school student should be able to do.

It also depends on aero. Some cars like an Enzo will transition from High downforce to High lift very violently if airflow is disturbed by uneven road surfaces as our friend Richard found out.

DL is short for dead-lift, or so I assumed.

Is this what may have happened to that Enzo in Italy a couple years ago, the one found disintegrated on the two lane road yet appeared to have not hit anything?

Hard to say. The "Whoop de Doo's" that Richard encountered are what disturbed the airflow as I understand it. The point is the Road is not the Track and uneven potentially dangerous conditions do occur on the roads that can get you into BFT.

As I understand it the MB "Flight" at Le Mans was caused by wake turbulence from a car that he got too close too coupled with an aerodynamic center of pressure that was rule changed later to prevent that sort of thing.

The question relates to downforce if were all reading the original post correctly. Like how much downforce is equivalent to lifting one side, or lifting the nose. Its also completely dependent on velocity.

    Velocity squared, to be pedantic....

Maybe the original poster could rephrase the question, it isn't clear what is being sought...

And to think from the heading that I thought he initially meant "selling," and I then wondered what it was doing in the Technical Q&A thread . . . .

Guess I'm the only one who speaks idiot. The question is: if a wieghtlifter picks up a car, from the front or the side, how much weight has he dead-lifted?

I thought a straightforward civil answer was the best way to point out that it was a stupid question. Hope this helps the rest of you....

How does the word "equivocates" apply in this question? Sounds like someone with nothing better to do!

    Hi,
I really don’t have any idea about that, Cars all weigh different, have a different distribution of weight, and you will be lifting each car from a different height. Yes I can suggest you to have a look of some of car lifts. Nowadays Automotive Lift is usually used and they are pretty helpful in such cases.

I was leaving that one alone. "equivocate", "equate", "equivalent," it's all the same, right?

I still have no idea what the purpose of the question is I think we have people that ask things for the sake of being seen to ask no idea what one would do with the answer
