Cheers Kong, just donated $100. Nicole's sister lives in Emerald and has been affected by these floods. Nicole has more family in Toowoomba and we have friends all down the coast that have been affected in some way. P.S-I dont like Anna Bligh.

I reckon. I hope my money gets put to good use. $29M has been donated so far. Some really BIG donations from the big dogs! Hope everything and everyone gets back to normal soon.
I almost didnt donate any monies towards this appeal because of my dislike for her. But I have faith most of the money donated will be put to good use.
Don't joke BJ - I remember the 74 floods and this is ALL exactly how it came together - low is forming over near Fiji, king tides on next full moon in a bit over a week... I've been housebound for 4 days; haven't properly driven 308 since I can't remember when. Seems like it hasn't stopped raining since I came home at end of October. Only consolation is it's snowing in Italia.
Was just on the phone to a mate that lives in Gympie. He asked if I just watched the news. Nope, but he reckons they just opened the flood gates at Wivenhoe and Brisbane is about to get ****ed royally. Yeah man, I hope not.
How awful. WSJ reckons Toowoomba is hardest hit thus far. http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20110110-716252.html Path of Least Resistance is Futile[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1JxXzVMdyE[/ame]
We are at work and the centenary suburbs are having some dramas, a lot of the river front homes have had their pontoons washed away. We were just talking to one of our clients as he watched his boat ramp break away and wash down the river. I hope we do better than 74. We have sent some of the staff home as they may not get there otherwise.

Yep. When my kidhood hometown was hit by flood, Pop was Fire Chief *and* Super'd Water District. I'll make a long scary story short someday about him giving 'til it hurt and then some, but, now respect is due Qld tragedy. All here know better than I do what's scary here and now isn't just how this flood area is bigger than France and Germany combined, but if a link in the chain breaks - Toowoomba will have gotten off comparatively lightly.
Caboolture,Dayboro and Strathpine folk have been urged to move to higher ground. The house I,m settling on in a week is in Caboolture as is Marc,s house and workshop. Marc,s workshop has at least the following in;275GTB,365GT4 BB,330GT2+2 and various other rear engine cars. I,ve tried to phone and text Marc......with no reply. I,ve been assured,by the real estate agent that my house sits on high ground and won,t be affected. Suncorp have put an embargo on house insurance in that region.
All the best for your house and Marc's business and inventory.. thoughts to those who have lost much!
I'm not joking at all, thats what was online today.I remember the '74 floods as well there is a novel based on a tug on the Gladstone river that kept up power/steam for 48 to hold its mooring. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Absolutely. Thoughts very much with all in Queensland, especially those missing or confirmed deceased (and their families). Unbelievable.
I find it sad and disgusting that it takes such a long time for all the donated money to actually help victims. I mean, the towns affected by the Victorian bushfires are still being rebuilt over 12 months later!
Wow! Good to hear he and his house/workshop/customers cars will be ok. Im looking at a house on the Gold Coast and in the ad it states the land is elevated higher than the floods of 74. I trust RE agents as far as I can throw them.
The RE agent I,m dealing with seems fairly honest,he actually owned the house next door to mine, therefore was able to allay my fears re flooding.
