So I need to do the floors in my new apt in Miami

I have heard of companies that paint a cement floor then epoxy it

I am looking for a good cheap alternative, key word cheap

Anybody work in this or have experience w some companies that paint concrete floors ?

    Thanks

I don't know anyone down there. but instead of paint, you can also "stain" the floor for a completely different look.

    William,

A friend just used the process over in Austin, TX ... it came out nice!

I can help with the info but not an installer in your area, I think Paulie is correct it's a stain and seal process, and they saw cut scoring too, to emulate big tiles...

A friend with a new condo had the concrete floors stained black and they put some epoxy clear coat on top... It's not my thing but it looked okay for the first year or so until the concrete cracked, then it looked like crap. He ended up putting in wood floors.

I'd forget the bare concrete idea and go with carpet, tile, wood - Whatever floats your boat, but the way they throw new buildings up today I wouldn't leave the concrete exposed.

William, William, William....cheap is expensive! My Granmother told me that when I was a kid.

Concrete finishing is relatively expensive. It has to be polished and possibly stained then epoxy coated. That process is almost as expensive as other flooring options. You can get decent prices in laminated wood floors which will give you a warm feeling in a home. You can also go with real wood. There is All Wood on I95 and 113 Street off SR7. Their prices were the best a few years ago.
Personally I would opt for a nice real stone floor. Marble etc. You will spend the money today but it is worth in the long run.

When using concrete finish you may want to consult your home owners association. They may not allow you to do that based on noise level in the downstairs unit. Usually there are provisions that you have to sound-proof the floor. Make sure whoever does your floor knows how to do it. The cork or underlay product has to go on the floor AND wherever the flooring material touches walls.

Ask Ainsley in the warehouse if he can give you some tips on here to find good flooring for less. I can give you one of the best marble installers in Miami. The guy is super. Comes with a crew and knocks out the job quick and painless.

Anyways, I am back in Miami on the 3rd and be happy to help you then in person. Other than that email me.
