I am think of screwing these floor mat retainers onto the floor of my Mondial, just in front of the seats where one would have these types of retainers on a normal car.

These are the retainers on a 355, so it is in keeping with the Ferrari ethos, albeit I am sure there are many other viable floor mat retainers one could choose. All would seem to require affixing to the metal floor.

The question is, I will have to drill some screw holes into the floor metal. The underneath of the car has the welded on panel, so I can not see what is under where I would drill, and I am concerned about drilling through something, hoses, wiring, etc. that might be under there, both on the driver and passenger side although I really only need to do this on the driver side. I suppose I could just expoxy them to the floor?

Has anyone ever taken off the welded on under panel so we can all see what is underneath these floor boards and drill holes without unintended consequence? Why did the factory have removable under panels except for this middle portion which is welded on? I can imagine eg. the long coolant hoses would be much easier to deal with if this panel was also removable.

If you stay in line with the Seat rail screws you should be ok. This is what I did to keep the Carpet in place works very well
