Hi, Ive been searching fchat for floor mat advice. Consensus seems that Keith Collins have always been the best until the horse design was changed. I saw these pictures of the horse on fchat. www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32687&highlight=keith+collins+mats Does anyone know if the horse has been improved since then? I spoke with Keith a couple of days ago and specifically asked about the change. He said that I would not be able to tell the difference between his current design and the actual Ferrari horse. Does anyone have pictures of mats he made in 2005? Thanks, Petenew 1988 328GTS owner!
GET READY FOR A MELTDOWN.......... PUT THE WORD "FLOORMATS" IN THE SEARCH AND YOU WILL GET 10,000 RESPONSES.. WELCOME TO FCHAT BRUCE
Pete, In case you don't want to wade through the old posts. . . . I got a set of mats for my 328 recently from Lyle Tanner Enterprises (http://www.ferraripartsexchange.com). They cost $289 and are just outstanding, looking better than the ones on the link you have. Tanner has them made to special order (maybe by Collins, for all I know), and they take about month to 6 weeks to arrive. Cheers, Mark
I would assume Ferrari back Keith Collins off a horse design that looks identical to the Cavallino R. But, frankly, that new design looks like a prancing goat. I've had Keith Collins mats in a number of my cars and they wear well. But, i also reached a conclusion that i don't necessarily like all that heavy padding beneath my foot, in a way that can change the height of my foot in relation to the pedals. So, i just leave the factory mats in, and buy some extras for the time when they get too soiled to be cleaned.
$300 for mats to keep the carpet clean, what next mats to keep the mats that keep the carpet clean, clean.
I'm working on getting distribution of mats from a manufactuer in Italy. I won't reference the name here, but I can confess that I've had his mats in my car for about a year, and they are simply gorgeous. Perfect cavallino, high-quality piping, and a very very tight "nap" (wich I personally like). A few of the CAFE and FCA-North Carolina folks have commented on how nice the mats were --- before I had anything to do with Ricambi, and they were unsolicited compliments! If I can get these things at a price point that's affordable, I'll offer them through Ricambi. I am targeting a price around $200. We're still a few weeks away (minimum), but if you can wait a little while, hang in there! Best, Daniel p.s. Thanks to my friend Sandy, they're now covered in the finest silica bits found in South Carolina
Daniel, funny that this should come up, I was going to mention floor mats on your survey. I just paid $370 from Italian car parts.............$200 from Ricambi sounds a little easier to swallow. Chas
these were in my car when i bought it...... i have no clue whose mats they are, but i sure like them! Image Unavailable, Please Login
dont forget to get a set of these, wouldnt want the mats that keep the carpet clean to get dirty. you need that new clean carpet under the mats for resale. what about seat covers, the dye on my drivers seat is wearing off a little? i also find this really helps with stone chips etc, better than 3m and you could add your own name etc on the side of your car. If the mats can move they may kill you one day ... personally I remove 'floating' mats and throw them in the bin. An accident caused by a mat jamming the throttle open, or restricting brake movement costs heaps more than dirty carpet. Plus I thought all modern cars had the rubber pad area for your heals, etc. ... or are we talking about the passenger side? Now with the passenger side you could always get some of that shag-pile carpet ... Cars are meant to be driven ... not sparkling clean. Pete
The problem, F355b, with those clear plastic ones is that the little nubs on the back wind-up perforating the carpet you are trying to protect. That's why i prefer these: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Any thoughts on leather floor mats? I just bought a leather saddle side for $150 which I'm going to carve up into floor mats, with the Ferrari horse dyed black in the center. It shouldn't take me more than a few of hours to complete once I get started, and the heavy 12-14 ounce leather ought to wear pretty well. I also have a medieval armor fluting press I can use to add a grooved border around the mat which should finish it off nicely, and I may also rivet on a fluted stainless steel plate where my heel goes to take the wear. I intend on anchoring the mats to the carpet using saddle snaps up under the front edge of the seats to keep them from sliding around. I have the tan leather interior in my Mondial, and leather floor mats should be pretty unique. If this thread is still alive when I get to it, I'll post some photos.
off to never neverland, love those. thinking of putting this set in for weekends. Image Unavailable, Please Login
My brother works at NedCar were they made the Volvo V40 and crashed a brand new one driving away from the production line when the protective papercard got jammed But most of those Ferrari mats if specially made for the type of car can't move in any direction.
What about mats for a Stradale? I saw some in a car...I think they were Keith Collins. Didn't like them. Too thick.
Who made your mats? In addition, I haven't heard from anyone who has NEW Keith Collins mats. Anything he made in 2005. He personally told me that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the factory Ferrari Cavallino (horse) and his current horse. And if he is referring to that horse on the first link, he must think my artistic ability to compare is juvenile! Pete
I have a set of black mats like the first set for a 308, (they are black with red cav) that someone can have if they pm me, ( I have tan interior)
