The owner of the car and the shop doing the conversion has documented the conversion extensively on rennlist. I've followed the whole thing and it's fascinating from
the perspective that they're doing something Porsche elected not to do.

My guess is that few will do it because of the cost but mostly because Porsche will probably lock down the availability of sourcing a manual gearbox for the 911R.

And the big advantage of the whole project is that all the conversion was made from oem Porshe parts, like ther 911R manual gearbox, 911R electronics, ecu etc.

    Excellent!

I didn't even consider that, but you're right and I think they will make it almost impossible to replicate again. The cost to take the 911R transmission and reverse engineer it and build from scratch would be seriously cost prohibitive lol...that's the only alternative I can think of at the moment. I'm not sure of any past or upcoming 911s that may have a viable 6MT that will fit.

I can't believe they were able to buy a 911R gearbox.

interesting part of the build is the electronics/software side of things more than the mechanical stuff.

great project, glad at least one got built, doubt we'll see many more...just buy a 991.2 GT3 with a manual and mod that :)
