I want to bring my 360 to Austin where I have a condo. I am a FL resident and will continue to maintain residency in FL.

In FL, there are (1) no Inspection/Emissions testing and (2) no front license plates.

Are there any particular issues to think about if I plan on keeping the 360 in Austin with my FL tag/registration and NO emissions testing/front license plate?

Is there any "rule" where if the car is in TX for so many days then it is required to be tagged/inspected in TX?

    thnx

Well, if this won't throw you for a loop I'm not quite sure what will. I have a DL out of North Palm Beach (have a tiny place there), My F-Car is insured & tagged out of Oklahoma, and I spend most of my time these days in Texas.

Oklahoma laws are very similar to Florida with regards to license plates and inspections. I run Tubi Exhaust & Test Pipes (no cats) on mine.

It's an unenforceable law at best, but if you maintain residences in multiple locations, you can do whatever you want.

On the other hand, if you bring an out of state car into Texas, it is my understanding you wouldn't have to have a front license plate if the car wasn't previously set up for one.

Basically don't let anybody tell you different. When I lived in Palm Beach full time, I had Oklahoma plates for well over a year before realizing the laws were the same and tags were much cheaper in FL. They can't do diddly...

You can, but its frowned upon. Its one of those thing were if you don't tell anyone, you should be fine.

They'll pull you ALL the time, over the front plate..as we run two here......

I'd have to check in with the TxDOT on the actual rules on length of time.

As long as you have a valid Florida License it would fly, but Texas only gives you 30 days to update your license on our TDLs....

The guys in Austin don't get harassed by the cops much for no front plates on their exotics. If they do pull you over it's usually just so they can get a better look at your car. :)

I think it's a $62 ticket. At least that's what it was last time I got a ticket for that, but that was a LONG time ago.

Ah, but DPS out on Hwy. 71 wasn't so nice, he burned thru the median and chased me down.....

They don't get much radar reflection, without one, so they look, at that point.

In town probably ok, although they have started lurking in the overpass U turns here, checking such things....you got the "student" thing goin' on.....

Responses seem kind of mixed but good to hear Travis County is on the lenient side. I hate the idea of getting pulled over alot and having to explain the no front plate/no emissions stickers... but REALLY hate the idea of putting in that front plate.

There's a guy here somewhere on Fchat that has made some 'quick fit" plate brackets...

But if you can convince them you are short term I guess it'll be okay....Tx DOT would be the one to call, just to "know the Rules".

I thought they busted a BIG car show in Round Rock over it, not too many years ago, sat outside the gate and wrote 100s of citations......
