I'm going to be in Gainesville the week of the 12th. I'm bringing my 92 yr. old father to see his 94 yr. old sister. I would like to get out fishing at least once. My thoughts are driving to Cedar Key and doing a charter. I've been told that fishing is currently slow because of the cold weather you had this winter/spring. Looking for suggestions for charter service and if onshore or offshore would be best.

    Regards,

    Robert

Find the fishing forum. The bite is way off. Many, many fish actually died. A friend had a horrible weekend last week. The talk at the yacht club is how bad it is.

Sorry I don't know the forum for you but good luck. Proper planning....

I didn't have the opportunity to catch up with CaptOharry's guy but did manage to get out. We went out of Steinhatchee for the day. Fishing was pretty good actually! We were throwing back more trout than we kept and got our 3 over 21" hooked into a couple of redfish but couldn't get them in the boat. I brought back ~12lbs. of fillets. I have to say it was interesting fishing in 2-3 ft of water. We had to wait until the tide came in to get to the redfish areas. Thanks for pointing me in this direction!

Nice. I'm trying Tarpon for the first time in my life mid May. I met some guys that are totally dialed in.
