OK Guys, Here is where it hits the road.

Who has had the fine priveledge of being able to do a high speed auto-X in a high performance car with open pipes???? OPEN window -let it rip!!!

9000rpm in an old 911, straight pipes, no air cleaners, big venturis, Inside racing tire 6 inches off the ground, trying to save my ass from terminal oversteer!!!!! YEEHAWWWW mf.

On a more serious note, what is the minimum muffler one can ease by with on the street???

I am seriously considering having flanges welded on my flowmaster tail pipes so that i can get rid of the resonator tips that make it streetable - for the few times i am able to get the 308 to the track.

OK guys, how far can you push it?????

With some humility and pernicious impecunity,
    I remain,
    chris

About 2 years ago when I frequented this site often, I posted a thread on a flowmaster that I modified for my Euro 308 gtbi. I took the cross flow model Flowmaster reduced the inlet and outlets, mandrell bent the exhaust tubes and added a set of dual outlet resonators. Also wrinkle black finished the exterior and ground all the welds smooth. I designed the unit to be a bolt on item so I included all the flanges and mounts for a Euro 308. I am very impressed with the sound and performance. And so were a couple of members at the time when posted from numerous emails to build more. I purchased several ready made systems, but they made the car sound like a mosquito. The sound is a deep rumble and has the unique Ferrari whine in acceleration this was a great wake up call for the overall performance. It took aprox 8 labor hours to complete with much modification to reduce the 2.5 inlet and outlets to the smaller Ferrari diameter, plus the tubes had to be mandrell bent to afford a tighter equal bend between the frame rails. I will try to look back at some old pics to see if I have any to post.

Depends on the RPM you drive at as you pass Officer Stadanko. Neutral works well :) Seriously, try for about 95dB or so at 50 feet. Keep rpm down in the city.

"How fast can you afford to go" is a nice universal answer ;)

Flowmaster exhausts are designed for domestic vehicles...

...Not high-revving Italian sports cars. I think it spells disaster.
