Yes someone else has it, I don't know them but I can pretty much guarantee someone else has. As a matter of fact whomever you've been in contact with probably has it. Hope you feel better!

I used to catch the flu almost every year. Now that I get the annual flu shot, I haven't caught it in the last 10-15 years. Knock on wood.

Much rather have 1 minute of pain vs 1 week of sickness!

I get it once a year......usually from someone else. :(
My good friend is a security gaurd at a big nightclub in Brisbane and he has had the flu over 50 times this year he reckons. Every week or so I talk to him on the phone, he always has a sore throat and coughs alot. Being in that line of work, he always gets the flu from the patrons in the club. That would SUCK!! :D:D

If you have the one I had last month you'll be death warmed over for a week and not quite right for a week after that.

Same problem here. Both the doctor and I thought it was the flu and he prescribed Tamiflu which made me yack for two days straight. Stopped taking it and stopped the yacking. However, it compromised my immune system, treating me for a virus that turned out to be a bacterial infection. I ended up with fluid in my lungs, Pneumonia. Two shots in the booty and an hour later I was almost fine. Remarkable. One shot was a antibiotic and the other a booster sort. I still cough a little, but the throat problem is nearly gone. Oh, I came up negative for strep. Some bacterial crap going around that CAN be killed with antiobiotics in a hurry. A strange side-affect to this particular cold is total lack of sleep--no desire to sleep. I haven't slept all nite. It my be some strange side affect to the medicine or cold. I don't know. I love my sleep and laid in bed with the lights out for seven hours trying to steal just an hour or more. No darn luck. I bet I crash later.

    Good luck..

    Get these following items:

    2 tbs Honey
    4 oz Apple juice
    2 oz Pineapple juice

    ****IMPORTANT*****
Mix these sweet items together first!

    After mixing add the following:

    1 tbs Habenero Cayenne Pepper
    2 tbs olive oil
    3 Garlic cloves
    2 tbs Apple cider vinegar
    The juice of three limes

    Combine all ingredients in blender.
Drink a portion, gargle some before swallowing. This makes about an 8 oz drink.

It doesn't taste the best but some things that are good for you have a drawback anyway. The cayenne pepper will help clear your system, but if you not used to it. IT WILL GET YOUR ATTENTION. This drink will help sweat the toxins from your system.

    Good luck

I haven't gotten the flu in YEARS!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Best of all, most at the office who got their flu shots, have been getting sick during the past two weeks....including the boss who coerces everyone to get their shots so that they won't call in sick. ;)

I'm not sure the two issues are related. The truth is getting the flu shot is a pretty good idea. What can end up happening though, is another strain, not in the vaccine, can thrive this season. So you can still get a strain of the flu if you get the shot. Though next year you will still have the antibodies to help you that year too. Further, these people that are sick could just have the common cold and not a viral infection.

Now, if you are a true humanitarian, you would not only get the shot for you but to stabilize the need for doses. The companies that produce it need to make a profit to continue their efforts. I don't want to see this farmed out to China too.

Sorry, I've never gotten flu shots, and I never will. My antibodies get a full workout with all the germs that my wife brings home from the daycare.

Absolutely true. The bigger issue is that when many people say they have "the flu" they don't really have influenza--what they have is parainfluenza, adenovirus, etc., etc. In other words, an infection by one of the many other viruses more prevalent this time of year that the flu shot offers no protection from.

Oh, and the common cold is a viral infection as well.
