It seems that the 420 or 430, whatever it will be, has not been finalized. It will be released next summer according to the last estimate. It may only be a coupe at that time.

What is really interesting is that there will not be a replacement for the 575 but rather a new version with a hard top that is retractable into the back deck / trunk space. What is more exotic is that it will be a glass top that is as the eyeglasses that get dark in the sun. They are working on an updated engine with more power "of course".

100 percent. He tells me what he knows. So far I have not been told anything "off the record". He's a tech person from FNA. We talk tech stuff including lubricants, my favorite topic. Look for changes in the owners manual recommendations. Ferrari seems to be going to thinner oils as everybody else.

Mmmmm... 575 Spyder with retractable top. Interesting. Thanx for the info. Is it going to be a limited edition like 550 Barchetta Pf?

Just so that I am clear, both the 360 replacement, and the 575 refinement/replacement are planning to be released next summer??

That makes sense. My source for inf on the new 430 or whatever has always maintained that it would be released in mid 2005 and and get to the US in late 2005. I would be a 2006 model.

Hmmm, not what this car needs in IMHO. This motor does not need any more power. What the car needs, however, is a diet, and a retractable top is headed the wrong directon. A client of mine has a new Lexus droptop and it is really cool and quiet. There's only one problem, the back end is fugly. I sure hope that they don't do this to the Maranello.

Plus, here in Texas a glass roof will be intolerable. I don't care if it is tinted. It will cook everybody in the car. I can only imagine the result in So Cal.

But if the car loses, say, 500 pounds, gets a fully adjustible suspension, some really cool pipes, I'm in, big time.
