Petty thing happened in Sydney on the way to SMSP, was riding in Trevor D's Pista and came up to a T intersection roundabout from Brabham drive turning right onto Ferrers Rd from the left turn ,2 lanes at the roundabout Image Unavailable, Please Login There is a cop on a bike sitting in the cul-de-sac of the roundabout, Trevor went straight in the LH lane where you can only make a RH turn. Cop lights up and pulls TD over, tells him he didn't have his RH indicator on. Now, the thing is, which other way was he going to go ? The RH lane could either turn right or do a U turn but the LH lane can only make a RH turn. TD tried to explain this to the pig but he kept saying "the rules are the same for NSW as they are for QLD" Well the eventual outcome was a $285 fine with no demerit points and the pig trying to make himself look like he is a benevolent thug says he could have pinged TD for his front number plate for not being vertical (it was , we checked it) He got 3 Ferraris that morning, all for the same reason, failing to indicate a right turn This **** was still there catching people at the end of the day in the pouring rain and all I can say is I hope he drops dead, ****** of the highest order I know it had to be my fault because as JY says, "if it happens to anyone, it's gunna be me!!" I'm not driving so they take my driver out Seriously, I'm really going to live in another country, this place has gone to the dogs
Ridiculous. I could be wrong but I reckon you wouldn’t get a fine for that in SA. If there is nothing else you can do but turn right, there is no need to indicate.
Back in the '80s when I got my HC licence, I was taught you must indicate to exit a roundabout,Full Stop. No mention of any exemptions. eg,road markings ,size of roundabout or lanes. This was in NSW.
Absolute joke…. I had a chat with Trever and he explained what happened. The cop had no sympathy whatsoever. The arrows painted on the road aren’t that big either and are easy to miss, especially if you’re from a different state and are looking at your GPS… I may….. have done the same thing 10 minutes earlier. I didn’t see the cop on the bike, I guess I was lucky. Either that or he felt sorry for me because I was in a 328
I know what you're saying Kenny but I only indicate if I'm in the right lane of a two lane roundabout and turning off the roundabout, this was for not indicating a right turn on a two lane roundabout from the left hand lane
The old story I give when pulled up by cops, and asked a reason for speeding, I tell them I'm going to a funeral (call me for the rest of the story, a tad rude )
Street view shows an arrow on the left hand lane which gives the option of left turn or straight ahead to the closed gate (it's under the truck in your photo). Technically, he has committed the offence but a hard ask given the gate was shut.
I agree, the cop was just being a prick. Ready to book anyone, no matter how minor the offense. Like I said earlier, the first time I went around the roundabout, I’m pretty sure I did the same thing. Didn’t notice the arrows at all as I was unfamiliar and checking the GPS. I only saw them the second time (I went back for some fuel) when I knew where I was going. TD told me he explained something similar but he just didn’t have bar of it… I didn’t know you were in the car too!
Technically, you should indicate R when turning R at a roundabout - treat it like a normal intersection. Then indicate L when you turn off - which snaps the indicator stalk self-cancel ring clean off on an older car - ask me how I know.
Based on that photo it clearly is an offence if he was in the left lane. Those arrows don’t even give the option of turning right.
I’m not very proud of this… but the trip to Sydney for the rally was the first long trip I’ve done in my car. I’m proud to say that it didn’t miss a beat, did everything I asked of it and more. I’ve just ran some figures…. 2253klm (1396 miles) Fuel economy over the trip was surprisingly good. Just under 12l/100km (19.6mpg) Can’t wait to take it in another one Image Unavailable, Please Login
