During my first 355 ownership I joined the FOC of Hong Kong. Apart from the discount at Italian Motors, there was really nothing else in the offering. Now I've got another 355, I'm wondering if it's worth joining again? If so, who should I contact?

    Cheers

    Tony

I am not a member of the FOCHK. Personally, I don't think it's worth it, unless you want to be part of their China drives everytime. I believe FOCHK has their office in Italian Motors. You probably can get the contact details direct from IM.

The discount at IMSS is worth it, but apart from that it costs a small furtune to do there other activities. I was a member for two years and wasn't able to afford to participate in anything they had to offer. Also wasn't prepared to put my car through the torture.

This is what i heard, that a China drive is something ridiculous like 50k!! The drive to Zhuhai with the supercarclub is only 10k i think. Why do IM rtry to rip us off all the time?

Sorry to hear about the experience that you guys are having in HK with the Club. For your information, the Members of the Ferrari Club Thailand just had their first Sprint event of the year from Bangkok to Bang Saen, a seaside resort 120km away on the eastern seaboard. The total cost for Members to participate was HK$80 for the seafood lunch, and HK$50 for children. The Annual Membership Fee is HK$700, with that you get the Club Membership Manual, Club Car Stickers, Club Polo Shirt, entry to the Annual New Year Party, and usage of the Club website.

So, please have a look at www.ferrariclubthailand.com as a comparison.

    Theera,

It's amazing how organized you guys are and how passionate you are about your Ferraris. Unfortunately in HK, the club is run by people who see it as an opportunity to make money. They don't care about members. They care about servicing costs and profit, that's it. The other problem is the majority of Ferrari owners in HK could'nt give a stuff about gatherings, drives, trips or social occasions. Now, there are the few owners who love these things but there's just no enough of us. It's a totally different mind set here. You just had to see how few turned up for the tsunami drive on sunday to see the problem...

    Hi

I am based in Shanghai. Erik, Karen and myself (the unofficial Ferrari club of China) have been looking at forming a Ferrari club in Shanghai. At present there is only my 1984 308QV car which is seen regularly on the roads of Shanghai, there are several 360's around owned by the local Chinese but there is no procedures to organise these owners, nor do you see them very often.

As a foreigner here is not easy to create anything along these lines. but we will try. The F1 circuit is fantastic and could be a really good day out but so far we have no support.

HK is a long way from here but the support we have had for the main events were very good.

I hope we get a good club formed here either by us or by the locals but IT NEEDS TO BE DONE.

    Hi Michael,

I go to Shanghai alot and was there for the F1. I'd love to do a drive up to Shanghai like the FOC did to the F1 last year (with an unfortunate death(s)). I'll have a chat with Herbert of IM and see what we can do....

Glad that you like what we've done to date. We are extremely passionate about the things we do.........that's probably why our little Club is the only one in the world to have Michael, Rubens and Jean as Honorary Members.

Yes, I booked the room for them. As for me, I sometimes stay next door at The Chedi, can't afford the Amanpuri.

Heh, that's pretty cool. My buddy lives in Bangkok and has a Maserati Ghibli, do you involve Masers in your club?

If yoou look at our website, it mentions that Membership of the Ferrari Club Thailand is open to anyone who has a keen interest in the famous cars past and present from Maranello, hence you don't have to own one of those ponies. Actually, there's 73 Members, out of these 12 of them are non-owners. Another thing, there's actually a Club for Masers in Thailand so he might already be a member of that one.
