    On Tuesday evening, June 20th we'll have a "track event" at the Route 66 drag racing strip. We'll meet in the late afternoon (say around 4pm) at Sean's house near Joliet for some BBQ and around 6pm head over to the 1/4 mile racing strip. They have a test run night, which means your quarter mile run is measured, but there is no competition. Perfect way to get your feet wet without risking a clutch. In essence you can drive off at the green light like you would at a regular traffic light.
    We got several of these cool alarm clocks as trophies. It awakes you to the lights and sounds of the drag racing "x-mas" tree.

    So who's in for an evening of fun and not too serious "racing"? This event is open to anybody interested, Ferraris preferred, but not necessary.

    I am an 'ol drag racer from way back. I think I will try & make it over. I will either bring the Ferrari, or maybe I will bring a sneaky little street racer I have.

    We will contact the track and find out about group arrangements, otherwise from what I remember last year it was something like $30-$35 to run for the whole evening.

    I have also arranged an escort which will allow for some spirited driving on the way from my place to the track.

    It is really amazingly well done: There is a temp and humidity instrument and the clock. The x-mas tree lights up as the alarm goes off and you hear drag racers peeling away. It has a demo button and the snooze button of course turns it off and momentarily illuminates the clock. The thing is totally cool.

    Sean, thanks for the escort, sounds like fun. I love that pic of your TR lined up.

    Michael, please bring the Ferrari. Remember it is not about winning, but about having fun. And everybody who shows up with a Ferrari will get a little prize. Promise. And if in the end it is only you, Sean and me, well then you're in for a trophy.

    Andreas, I have never seen any other info on that 308... just the one pic.. pretty insane tho :)


    I think it will be ready - though it's not a drag car it ought to do well. very well, and yes it will be ready , and june 21st is my birthday :) would make a nice weekend.

    Incidentally at the racecar shop this weekend was a Harley powered drag bike they said will do 228mph in the 1/4.. and it's run by "Shumacher Racing" :)

    I'll see if I can get a pic up here - I didn't have my digital camera - but took one from my phone (I have never tried get any pictures off my camera phone - so no idea how the quality is)

    If the car is ready by then, I will see what I can do about breaking it at the 1/4 mile...well, that or breaking it in...hoping for the 2nd option of the two.

    My thought was that they can use us as a promotional vehicle to get more of a crowd out there, like Italian exotic night, which will draw people, and then we get in free...

    Anyway, I am arranging for some magazine models to come to the event with us. I hope nobody minds being photographed or filmed.
