Trying to narrow my decision on purchase of a 360 Spyder, and went with the suggestion from a number of you to contact Chris of FoCNJ. Unfortunately, Chris will not be in for a couple weeks or more and I can't seem to get anyone to return my calls (some guy who normally deals with Maserati filling in for Chris). Also, these guys have to be the only Ferrari dealership with no website, so can't even check their inventory.

Anyone know how best to get in touch with Chris or find out what they have in inventory? My preference is for an 01 or 02 either black on black, red/tan or TDF Blue, with no preference one way or another on F1 or 6spd.

I know FoCNJ _had_ a stunning black/black 360 spider a few month's back, but I'm not sure if it's been sold yet.

    Paul,

Like I said earlier, Chris doesnt have any Spiders right now in the 180ish price range as you specified earlier. He is supposed to be getting some more inventory in next month.

I'm not a big fan of WWoC myself, I had put a deposit down on a Spider which they promptly sold under my nose. Mind you there wasnt a substantial delay in payment, probably 2-3 days not more.

at the $180K price range you are probably looking at a 01 with high mileage. keep in mind that an 01 model is out of warranty as well. i would rather pay a little more and move up a few year for a piece of mind.

If you want to spend a little time doing research, you can look at a variety of sources, including authorized dealers, for cars. I just took a quick look on the "car experience" website, and while there are some dealers there i would stay away from with a 20ft. Lithuanian, there were 69 listings for 360 spiders on that site alone, some located at dealers in the tristate area, and some within your price range. You used to be able to search the FNA site for used inventory nationwide, but i don't know if that is still possible. Carriage House in Greenwich (not an authorized dealer) also had some cars listed in the Sunday times.
You may decide to work with a local dealer, to develop a relationship and have a base for local service. That doesn't prevent you from doing some of your own preliminary research though, if only to say to the dealer, hey- there's a car in Chicago that sounds good- would you check it out for me? The dealers know each other, and often know who they can trust. That's how i bought my first Ferrari, sight-unseen, from Beverly Hills Ferrari- who had the car, after i asked Algar, in Phila. to follow up with that dealer and see if they could land it for me, if it checked out. Know that you will put more energy into the process than most salespeople will, and short of one falling into his lap, or a customer car the dealer knows to be coming back to him for resale, he is often reduced to the same, fairly sizeable pool of available cars that you are on the market. So, do your homework, see if the local dealer- whether its New Jersey, New York or Conn. will work with you to procure a good car, and ask them about warranties.

eventhough the euro's are cheap i would stay away from them. non of the f-dealers will service it for you. whart is correct , it is better to buy it from your local dealer and to develope a relations with them. but it will be tough to find a nice low mileage 360 at your budget specially from a dealer.

Actually, quite a number of dealers are talking to me, including Chris, about cars within this price range, and with low mileage. While there may not be massive "deals" out there, I've found that if you put the time and energy into it, there's no need to overpay for the car either.

Don't walk away from Nick, RUN as fast as you can!!!!!!

Call up Sean Harris at Harris Imports in Salt Lake City. He usually has at least one or 360's in stock.

While I agree that it is a good strategy to develop a relationship with your local dealer - especially if you anticipate Ferrari ownership for the long-term - all the dealers that I've spoken to, as well as individuals who own Euro's and service their F-Cars through dealers, all indicate no problems having their cars serviced through authorized dealers. There is no doubt that dealers prefer that you buy from them, and that you buy US spec, but at the end of the day, money is money, and there is a LOT of money to be made on the service side.
