    Planet F1 this morning:

The FIA will be keeping a close eye on this week's test at the Spanish circuit of Jerez following the recent racial incidents at Barcelona.

F1's first black driver Lewis Hamilton suffered racial abuse from the local crowd at his last outing in Spain two weeks ago.

Hamilton was jeered and insulted when he moved between the McLaren motorhome and the team's garage at the Circuit de Catalunya, in Montmelo, near Barcelona.

The abuse aimed at the 23-year-old finally reached a point where McLaren asked the track officials to shut down the entry to the spectators' grandstand facing the team's garages.

McLaren and Hamilton, though, will be making their return to Spain today where the driver will be in action at the Jerez circuit.

But while McLaren insist it will be business as usual, the FIA will be keeping a close eye on the behaviour of the Spanish spectators.

"We will monitor events very closely at the forthcoming Formula One tests to ensure that everything is done to prevent any repeat of those appalling scenes in Barcelona," an FIA spokesman said following the Barcelona test.

I hope the FIA stands firm with their comments.
