I have an 88 Euro car and I am not sure what should turn on when I use the Fog Light button. I've hit it before but I don't know that it does anything!

Sometimes if I hit a bump I think a green light inside the console comes on, I feel the switch doing something (relay like click when pressed). Should that button also power the Pink wire (not connected to anything in my car up front of course)? I was thinking this is the right time to swap that wire into the fog lamps if it is that simple.

I have the front bumper off now being refinished, so I have full access. From what I can see in the Fig 4 schematic you either have one or the other for front or rear fog lights? I am getting cross eyed looking at the schematics today....

on my euro 512, you have to have the driving lights on( not headlights) and then push the fog light switch in the overhead console. A green light comes on in the dash telling you that it is on. then push the other switch for the rear fog lights, and a yellow light comes on in the dash display! When you shut the car off or turn off the driving lights, everything shuts down.

Turning on the driving lights (sidelights) activates the outside light relay "O". This provides power to the front fog light switch on the pink wire. Pushing this switch should allow this power to go to the optional front foglights (and dash annunciator light) on the pink-black wire via relay panel connector K and B. However, there is another pink black wire which I don't understand and is labelled rear fog.

There are no specific front fog light relays (on the Euro car), but I believe the switch has some kind of electric latching.

I see I have mislabelled my wiring diagram (ooops). Here's a corrected version with some arrows to help follow the current flow from relay "O"...

Hi, If it is a euro car the front fog lights are not fog lights.
These are high beam lights when the pop-up lights are down.
It can, I did, be converted to fog lights but this needs a wire modification in the fuse box and the extra button in the roof (3 buttons total).
I did not do the modification myself.

Have you decoded your VIN to determine if you have Euro version Euro or a GB version Euro? Or maybe the position of the steering wheel might be a clue ;)

Do you mean the wire color is pink or pink-black at the front bumper?

Yes, the upper console "switches" are actually (flaky) press-button actuated self-latching relays. They stay "on" as long as the key stays "on". When you turn the key "off", they go "off" -- that way they can't inadvertently be left "on".

If you do have a Euro version Euro, there's a lot of confusion in how they labeled the upper console switches (refer to Fig 7 in the 459/86 wiring diagram):
If you press switch 89 "Front fog lights switch" (when the headlight stalk knob is "on") and have front fog lights connected to the pink-black wire at the front, and/or have rear fog lights connected to the pink-black wire at the rear = they will come "on"
If you press switch 90 "Rear anti-fog light switch" (when the headlight stalk knob is "on"), the reverse lights in the rear taillight assemblies are turned "on" (this is also true for a GB version Euro).
    Makes sense, right? ;)

Gents, this is gold. I thank you all. As soon as I get a few minutes I’ll decipher what’s here and how to best progress. I’d LOVE to have real front fog lights instead of the flash to pass Euro lights. Iirc my VIN does indicate a mainland Euro delivery car, and it’s a left hand drive.

I’m hesitant to touch the fuse panel as I just spent real money on the GT Car Parts new one! Changing a wire in the harness, ok. Nodding the fuse box itself, I’ll have to live without fog lights....I’ve got a warranty on exactly one part in this old gal...!

as far as I know the glasses for foglights are different than those for flashing, but not sure
at other cars the foglight glasses are different to the highbeam glasses
