Very cool picture of a very cool car. It's always a pleasure to observe your Dino in its natural setting. Thanks, Coop
My Dino was originally a frog, but somebody gave it a kiss and it became the most beautiful car in the world. My Dino and I don't like to be reminded of this fact. Enough with the frog talk! I have never considered having sex with a frog. With my Dino on the other hand, the thought has crossed my mind...

Hello Mathias I was on a ski trip for a week, lots of snow here in California and it was fantastic. Those fog lights fit so well in the front, under the bumper cover holes, that makes me think it was a factory part or option. Funny they kind of look like "frog eyes"! Attached are some pictures of my Dino which should give you an idea of the fit in the underside of the front area, but it's difficult to post the picture of the switch because of its position. I will try to take some pictures of the switch over the weekend if they come up good enough I will post them. Correction the location of the switch is to the left of the ignition where you see a little silver dot in the lower side of the dash! Hello everybody Here is another shot of the Dino in its humbel garage with her companion! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I´m sure that there were never fog lights fitted from the factory. There is no picture in the factory or any press photos with fog lights. Even on the options list of the US distributors where are some more things could be ordered after the delivery from Ferrai are no Frog light, sorry for Cermit Matthias! I have never seen a Dino that has fog lights that look original. Nor have I ever heard of fog lights being offered. Nor have I ever seen pictures of fog lights from the era.
Do you think that those two holes under the front bumpers' cover were there as a design element or for cooling something like brakes? I don't think so. The lights fit there perfect. Perhaps they were offered as additional equipment and not as an option and it sure enhances the looks and gives the car an additional feature. May be it was the designated spot by the factory for those who wanted to add fog lights on their cars. As you can see from the pictures of my car it completes the design of the front end, no more blank holes in the underside. Regards, Sarkis
The original design was a squared off intake. The front area has several vents. There is the area designed to feed into the radiator and two side vents that feed into other systems. The square versus circle styles are a matter or aerodynamic advances. This change took place in mid-late 72. I own 4 Dino's that have these vents and 1 that doesn't. I have more Dino crap than the average bear. I have NEVER heard of any Dino having fog lights. I am not knocking your car, but these vents are not designer touches for a fog light option.
your right, the middle rectangular vents feed the radiatiors, but the side round ones do not have any function (as you state). May be you haven't seen one before, but there's always a first time for you to see one. I did not create those holes nor those lights, it came that way and there should be a reason why they were put there in those round holes. I don't think some guy built a custom size fog llight to plug those holes!
Just a reminder, Gents, Both Scott.Mac (post #19) and I (post #11) mentioned the reference on the wiring diagrams in the factory manuals to fog lights & switch. That's not to say that fog lights were ever actually installed on a Dino from the git-go (hmmm, those on the yellow 206...JCR's post #12...looked pretty period correct), just that the factory had planned that a customer might order a car with fog lights "on request." Perhaps the brake scoops on Sarkis' Tipo E (not to be confused with his E-Type! ) were just too inviting to resist for someone somewhere in the chain of custody. Hey, I'm not too sure how effective the scoops are, anyway! Mine don't have ducting to the brakes. They do look good, though. Whew, Coop
Ferrari Classiche confirmed to an italian friend of mine "fog lights" was an option that could be ordered for Ferrari Dino 206/246. Here is a picture of a swiss car, but we think the fog lights weren`t fitted original. Regards Matthias By the way "nose bar" was an option and is not on above option price list too ;-) "Frog lights" weren`t an option ;-) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sarkis, Is there any possibility of a couple of close ups of your fog lights? BTW you have two superb looking cars. G P
As you surely know the available options were country specific. The posted list was valid for US cars. For the UK cars the nose bar is on the list, see below. But, again... no fog light and it will be not found on any list. I´m wondering where from Ferrari Classice would have that information? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Guys we can all relax, I just received final information from Italy. Fog lights was an option on so called "costumer request". Ferrari just provided the possibility of installing fog lights (shown in the wiring diagram). Dealerships were able to fit the fog lights, when ordered by the costumer. So different fog lights at different positions could have been fitted. Regards Matthias
Mathias What you said makes perfect sense, since my car 04676 was the first c & F documented car out of the factory it might have been dressed up. You can also see in the pictures that I posted, it has a black MOMO steering wheel.(Hope people don't take shots at that) I have only seen that once on a Dino that was featured in the Alain de Cadenet's "Victory By Design" dvd. That said, after seeing all the other fog light pictures posted, in my judgement, I think mine is positioned in an apropriate place, it blends in the front design instead of interfering with its beauty and it is very functional. I use it when we have the fog in Palos Verdes, Ca. Regards Sarkis
Sarkis, lovely car. I like the flares But please do us one favour, never switch the fog lights on for just hunting the poor frogs. Regards Matthias
Thanks Mathias, will be carefull with the frogs By the way I learned quite a bit from your posts. The forum at its best! Enjoy your weekend Sarkis
How about these? Michael Platzer shows us yet another possibility. I missed 'em the first time around...over a year ago. However, they jumped right out at me when I saw the picture again tonight. Coop Image Unavailable, Please Login
