Hi guys, My 77' 308 GTB fuel and oil temp gauges are getting some condensation in them after extended driving. All of the other gauges are fine and there is no smell of coolant (or leaking) or dampness in the car. I have owned the car for 4 months and 1,500 miles and that is my only complaint, it starts drives and revs like a new car and I could not be happier. any thoughts, David
had the same problem, the gauges are not sealed and my guess is moisture gets in and on a hot day fogs them up, had my clock repaired and it looks nice, on the gt4 getting the gauges out is a PITA. You also need a special machine to replace the chrome bead. I used Palo Alto Speedo for my repair.
Not a problem , I get the same thing on my 77 308. The seals behind the glass of the gages dry up and shrink. Lets in moisture and it condenses on the glass. As you know it goes away so unless you want to take the gages out and put in new seals just leave them alone.
My '77 GTB does the same thing. I started putting a lamp in the car on rainy nights and that has helped a lot. Make sure the bulp does not get close to your leather seats. It may dry them out or cause scorching. Bob Wassam
Not sure if seals would do much or not. I generally noticed this in the winter time...cold glass on the lenses (not the clock, which is plastic), and of course the car heater on. Running the lights (which turns on the bulbs in the gauges) seem to make it a bit worse. But would dry out from the heat of the bulbs. I notice this even in the 355, but it is nowhere near as bad or annoying.
