does anybody know what the status is of FoNE these days? my usual sources aren't keeping me particularly well-informed last i heard through the grapevine, the Boch acquisition deal was looking very likely, but hadn't closed. other spotters have reported on the big FOR LEASE sign on the building in newton. the FoNE web site has changed and it is now split from FoLI (the'yre using some ferrari corporate default thing - i like it better than the old site, fwiw!). some folks claim construction has already started on the new Boch-owned site on the automile next to the Caddy dealer. anybody know the score? i genuinely hope the "for lease" sign is all about a move and not a shutdown! mr. curious, doody
In brief: the new website is due to Ferrari requiring new websites for all the dealers, allowing consistent look and feel and one-stop used-car inventory searching. the lease on the W. Newton place expires this year, and is outrageously expensive, so almost certainly won't be renewed. the acquisition is awaiting final approval from Ferrari; if and when it does close, then the dealership will move to Norwood. Lots of plans in the works. 2006 looks to be a good year for them. vty, --Dennis
If that is the case, does Boch plan to take on the employees? His employees at his Mitsu store thought they had job security with a huge new dealership, only to get walking papers when Infiniti took over the building and the lease.
I was at FONE last Friday, I asked for a sales rep. A woman named Natalia helped me and gave me her card. Her card states that she is the Maserati sales manager - no mention of Ferrari. She told me to call her to arrange a test drive of a car I am interested in. I suspect that there aren't any Ferrari sales people... I had already left the dealership before I noticed what her card said or else I would have asked. The significance of this may be that the employees there will stay to handle Maserati. One other interesting thing was that all of the used Ferarris are on consignment, none are owned by the dealership. Kirk
How they can sustain the location on the Maser sales #s and some residual F car service is beyond me.
Nick Scelsi (the GM) and Natalia run sales. They both handle both marquees. They're both good people - I've had nothing but positive experiences with them over the years. Doody.
Nick and Natalia are both excellent people. I'm sure they can find and sell you a Ferrari. We have to realize that this been a very hard time for everyone at the dealership. I don't know the facts of what is going on there. I just hope that the change is a good one for the people there (like Nick and Natalia.) I can't imagine how hard it is for them trying to keep their customers happy amid all the turmoil. I wish them the best.
My sources tell me that most of the service staff is no longer there. FNA can drag there feet approving new dealers. I also heard that a previous attempt by the Boch group to buy the franchise was turned down by FNA? I wish the new owners all the best.
Natalia is responsible primarily for Maserati sales, but also helps Nick Scelsi, the General Manager, out with Ferrari sales. Nick has been responsible for Ferrari sales since Philippe left back in May of 2004 (though Al was there for a short while to also sell Ferraris, I don't know that he sold any cars). Between Nick and Natalia, you can buy either Ferraris or Maseratis. Yes, all the used Ferraris are on consignment. While the sale of the dealership is pending, no one wants to spend capital on buying used Ferraris for inventory, particularly in the New England winter, and understandably so. vty, --Dennis
Again, they are still delivering new Ferraris as well as selling used Ferraris on consignment. You're just speculating incorrectly now. vty, --Dennis
No, FNA has turned down previous buyers, but not Boch. Best guess is that this deal will be approved sooner rather than later. Come the spring, if the deal goes through, you'll see some very good announcements. vty, --Dennis
Hello everyone, I am new to N.E. and I am curious of the current status of Ferrari N.E. as it is now Feb? Have they moved? Where is the new location? What does one do about getting a new car from them? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance. Sincerely, Tom
Tom: They have not moved AFAIK. Call Nick Scelsi (the GM) at 617/559-0123. He'll take care of you. Doody PS: And welcome to New England!
Mr. Doody, Thank you for the information and the kind welcome. A few other questions, what is the current status of a F430 if the dealership is being sold? What is the availability of the F430 here in N.E.? Sincerely, Tom
As Doody suggests, you should def. talk to Nick - status w/ a new 430 is similar to that elsewhere in the country, very low allocation numbers coming right now. The dealership is still going, and still getting allocations, but as at any other time, getting a car is a matter of speaking to the dealer and working something out
Hello Everyone, I am currently looking for a 1999 Yellow (Exterior) Black (Interior) F355 GTS with a painted yellow roof to match. I would like a good clean car no issues. Any suggestions as to the best way to find this car? Thanks in Advance.
Call the only other Ferrari dealer in New England. Miller Motorcars 342 West Putnam Avenue Greenwich, CT 06830 (203)629-3890 Ask for Werner.
Theres no reason not to call FoNE - Nick has a no. of 355s floating around, but a yellow 99 GTS is likely to be a rare car, not many GTS versus spiders as '99s.
