Put 'em here if you got 'em.
So I thought I would get the jump on things and get up at 4:30 this morning to drive down to Seattle from Arlington, hop on the Fauntleroy Ferry and cruise over to Port Orchard to pick up the 20 pies I had on order for the Food and Toy Drive. All went well and I arrived at the dock at 7:45 and purchased my ticket. Cool! The boat doesn't leave for a half hour so I walked around the dock sipping my coffee and shot a few pictures. It was cool (45 f and foggy). The boat came in and off loaded, getting us onboard about 15 minutes late. I jump out of the car and go upstairs to get a donut and walk back down. I keep looking at my watch, looking at all of the loaded cars wondering why the boat is still pushing/idling against the dock and not backing out. By 8:50 am the boat is still pushing against the dock and there is an announcement that the boat is experiencing a "malfunction", still pushing against the dock. I hear the diesels rumble and feel the boat bucking a little as it tried to push the dock up on land. This is a BIG boat. It is about the length of a football field and will haul 130 cars on multiple decks. As I am looking out across the water I see another ferry waiting to come in to our berth with a full load and there is yet another pulling out of Vashon Island heading our way. A little later there is another annoucement that we will have to back all of our cars and some semi-trucks with trailers off the boat onto a dock that is already full of other cars. Meanwhile the ferry is still pushing against the dock! They can't get it out of gear!! After looking up the specs on the Issaquah class boats I find the steering and engine controls are computerized and had been prone to failure in the past causing a number of dock rammings when the system failed to apply reverse thrust!! Ohhhh yeah!!! We'll just reboot the thing! Bet they got a GREAT deal on the software for sure. I managed to get off the boat and park up the street a ways. I walked back and got my refund and drove the long way around through Tacoma arriving at 11:00 am. I ran up to Albertsons and picked up the pies for the food bank and proceeded to enjoy the rest of the day. Enclosed are pictures of a nice looking sloop, the pie wagon and a view looking back at Fauntleroy. If I had only known.............................. I forgot to mention that I took another Issaquah class ferry back over to Edmonds. No problems except for traffic through Lynnwood, yech!

I want to say a special thanks to Michael for "forcing " me into driving duties with his Testarossa to give rides to those that donated to the cause. The Capristo exhaust (level II) has a great and wonderful sound. I was impressed by the enthusiasm and generosity of all those attending. A very worthy cause and fun day to boot! I don't see the album you mention at www.vonditter.shutterfly.com

Yeah, especially after driving your GT2. Can't beat that addiction to power no matter how hard I try. Gotta find a way to turbo the 308..................................
Yeah, if only that van wasn't in the picture. Thats with my point and shoot too. I really need to get my Canon working again!
I have Photoshop 3 elements and I still haven't learned how to use it! I could easily make that a major hobby as well.
Michael, Great event, I hope this becomes an "annual" thing. Glad there was a great turnout! Also thanks to Byron for getting me a "Ferrari fix" and letting me drive his 328 over and back.
Thank you. Things like that are good to hear since as a father I have beat, kicked, and cussed him since he was a toddler. If you believe that then you'll believe that Ferrari's are built by GM. He's always been a keeper. Bob
I think you guys have me confused with somebody else................................... This is what I really look like, Image Unavailable, Please Login
