I have to drive from Ohare to Milwaukee. Any place that is good to see top at to eat and what should I eat?

I heard Culver's is good and their fish sandwich is something I have to try. We don't have frozen custard in S Cal so thought it would be interesting to try.

Been to the cheese palace before. Looking for some thing unique and tasty.

I have a couple restaurants saved on my "want to go map" in that area.

I haven't been there but Hobnob steakhouse on Lake Michigan in Racine looks nice, but is going to be a bit more pricey.

I also haven't been there, but The Village Tavern in Buffalo Grove is the oldest bar/restaurant in Illinois if you like old historic places like I do.

For fast food chains, the only two we have that seem to be uncommon elsewhere are Culver's and Taco Johns. Taco Johns is like a slightly higher quality Taco Bell whose gimic are these small hashbrown rounds called potato oles, which are pretty good. Culver's does custard and really good burgers/fish/chicken. I'd recommend Culver's over Taco John's.

Where are you going in Milwaukee?
No food ready to eat, but you can't get any more 'unique' and 'Wisconsin' than Usinger's. They've got sausages you've never heard of

I frequently in M for work. I go to Brookfield or Peweaukee mostly. Thanks for the recommendation

I still want to do a fish fry, but I am never in town on Fridays

You could try Buckatabon Tavern and Supper Club in Wauwatosa....they've got fish fry every day. Not a personal rec, but the neighborhood suggests a certain quality. There are others, I'd bet.

Pewaukee is in my backyard brother! LeDucs located in nearby Wales for custard/burgers. They’re open 7 days a week until 9 I think.

The Kiltie in Oconomowoc is a summer drive in with a wide cult following. My sister met someone in Scotland wearing a Kiltie shirt. They’re open in the summer only, cash only. I think LeDucs is better, but both are worth a visit.

If you’re ever up in Washington County I would recommend Helds for sausage/cheese. But it’s a butcher shop not a restaurant.

The former Nashotah Clubhouse, now known as Boozhag’s (I’m no fan of the new name) has a very highly regarded fish fry on Friday’s. It too is pretty close to Pewaukee.

Mr. B’s is a steakhouse I enjoy, but if you’re here on business you’ve probably already been. :)

Kopp’s in Brookfield is another no brainer to try. It’s right on Bluemound Rd.
