The past couple time I have seen Foose selling cars at BJ, they seem to sell for dirt and doughnuts. When the bidding gets sluggish at the price the car would sell for if it was stock on a dealers lot, he gets on the mic and try to hype it up. It fails to bring result. SOLD! $30K. Ouch.

The car designer, Chip Foose tries to auction his cars off at Barrett Jackson Car Auction in Arizona. Since noone wants his ****, he gets on the mic during the auction to spike the interest in his cars. This does not make people want to buy his ****, so the car sells dirt cheap.

    Hope that translation helps

I agree, but somebody just bought one of his mustangs for $160k... now Ford is coming out with a limited "Foose" edition for like a third the price. Its prob one of his best designs though. The other stuff, yeah just too subtle for what he would like to charge.

What is Boyds stuff selling for? I love to watch his show...I just keep wondering how he manages to stay open. He must have had a 100% turnover in employees over the last 6 months....

Someone explain THAT show to me. How do they get his employees to constantly bad-mouth him on the show...don't they realize he CAN WATCH IT?!

At least when you watch FOOSE, he appears to be a proffesional. He compliment his team, they work well together...and cars get done...

Ask yourself, who would you rather build your car, FOOSE, or Boyd?

The only thing I dislike about the foose cars, is that they all get the same monotonous paintjob...EVERYTIME...

I'd take a Foose car over a recent Boyd car any day. Keep in mind that Boyd did his best work when Foose was working for him.

I caught a new episode (at least I think it was new) of AHR last week, and there seemed to be a lot less drama, which improved the show a lot. Just build the car, boys, we don't need to see all the contrived conflict.

I would be very reluctant to buy a Boydster, there seems to be too much " That should work" and "That's good enough" . That said I enjoy the show and the cars look great. I have to imagine that a lot of the BS is done for ratings and staged. People wouldn't pay Boydster prices for halfassed chop job would they???

But why o' why can't he do more creative paint jobs? Does it always have to be a 2 tone with accents?

In regards to sale price, I think his true one off customs get premium dollar. The cars he does for some of these tv shows aren't really the same caliber. The latter are done off site by local talent, and completed in 1 week. Not quite the same as a 1 year nuts and bolts restoration...

I really think all the hurrying and deadlines are made up for TV on Boyd's show. Their work is simply amazing. I do agree though that it's got to be tough to stay open with all the people quiting, being fired, and then Roy dying. Do you guys think thats just a select few of his workers on the show and not his whole crew? I think this because some of them don't seem like world class hot rod builders.

I got to see all 3 Riddler winning cars a few weeks ago at the Blackie Gejeian Autorama. This show was real nice. All cars on the floor were by invitation only. Foose was named "Builder of the Year" by Blackie. This guy as old as he is, travels the country, personally inspected over 40k cars, and invites the best of the best. There was a couple of Boyds roadsters, but not any of the show cars. I was able to meet Foose and get a Camaro Model signed as well as his 8X10 that he was signing along with the shop number on the back. I got that because I asked him how much he gets to do a Autograph session. I wa shoping to get him to come to the store for that, until he told me the amount. HEART ATTACK!

I personally prefer Foose over Boyd because he seems to be Real and not a D ck like Mr. Boyd seems to be. Just my .02 cents.

Maybe because of the name? The car looks cool but would you really want to brag to women that you're driving a "foose stallion"?

On another board, someone met the owner of the red Corvette, the one with the twin turbo engine, and a bazillion hp ... he said it wasn't 12 weeks, more like 3.5 years!

    More creative?

He likes the simple, classic paint jobs. I greatly prefer those to anything that's outlandish.
