Just wondering when your radiator fans come on? I know the dash gauge is probably off by at least -/+ 5 or more degrees, but what’s your best guess at water temp at which the fans cut in? And how much do they lower the temp before they shut off?

    Thanks in advance.

The on/off temps should be stamped on the switch in the bottom of the radiator. The original factory switches were 84/75C. You used to be able to get a lower setting switch also. 84/75 at the bottom of the radiator will be about 90-95/84-80C at the gauge sending unit.

Thanks. I understand when the switches are suppose turn on the fans based on their ratings. What I’m after is real world data on when the fans actually come on and go off in the 330 GTC’s that people are currently driving. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.

Just trying to get some experiential data to compare to mine. What’s the indicated water temp on the dash gauge when the fans come on? And when they go off? And has the dash gauge been calibrated to your water temp sender?

Kevin: Get a Temp Gun (they are cheap and accurate) and find out the actual temp at the gauge sender when the fans come on, then compare it to your gauge reading. Other peoples cars are not a consideration. After 50 years of corrosion and replacements, the numbers will be all over the place.

Thanks. I have a temp gun. I know what my readings are. I was wondering what others readings are. I am on a fresh engine and new sender unit and new fan switch, etc. I am still interested in others readings, thanks.

While we’re at it, I’d also like to know what people are seeing on their temp guns at the top of the radiator where the hot water from the engine enters vs at the bottom of the radiator where the fan switch is located. Just wondering.
