What do you feel like when you see people taking videos or pictures of your car? Do you feel good that you have a awesome car, sometimes do you get annoyed that people may take pictures of the back of the car with the number plate showing (some people dont like that because of privacy issues, like i see loads of plates blurred) Do you find it annoying that people may always be around your car taking pictures... I guess sometimes you owners will get annoyed at times, say if your coming back from the mall and your opening your car to put the luggage in and they filming right into your car so they may see personal belongings ect... Also a seperate question... Are you always aware of where your going to park your car.... When i was in Cape Town, I saw a lot of Ferrari's parked on a road inbetween the restaurants and the beach, but someone could come key the car or break in whilst your having dinner, luckily theres people that can look after your car and you give them a small tip, but have there ever been times where you was "I wish I hadn't parked my car there" or "damn should I park my car there" ? If anyone's around from Cape Town here, I might of seen your black Ferrari California, Bicolore Ferrari 458, Ferrari 430 spyder with very dark tint, and a few red ferrari 599's... Really Nice place to see some cars
I personally don't mind people taking pictures of the car. Before I had my 360 I would take pictures of other FCars so it's only fair. As far as parking.. yes I am very careful, it's not like my Boxster. I can't bring myself to just park it anywhere. I have my selected spaces and valets, tis the trials and tribulations of owning a beautiful car.
Last question first: I always sweat where i park my car, ANY car. Not just the Ferrari. I'm just anal that way. Despite being a very private person, I never mind people photographing the car. 99% of people who take an interest are pleasant and I love sharing my enjoyment of the car. Especially with wide-eyed kids.
I don't see why any owner would care about people taking pics of their exotic vehicle. It's a given that it is going to happen. I also don't understand why anyone cares about the plate. It's not like there is something they can do with the plate number, and it's the law that it is displayed there publicly anyway. As for parking, I'm beyond careful when parking any of my vehicles as other people could care less if they damage my things, and knowing that other people don't care, it is my job to protect my things. Doesn't matter what vehicle it is, it just doesn't make sense to encourage damage through negligent parking on my part. Valets can be worse than parking beside a drunk soccer team in a mini-van. As for people "keying" the car or other vandalism, that is not usually a concern. Might not be good to park where the "Occupy Wall St" crowd gathers, but I've never seen random vandalism. I drive a Hummer H1 daily, and have for over 10 years, and none of the leftist freaks have ever done anything to it, and those brainless morons have quite the misguided vendetta toward what they perceive as being a large SUV type vehicle. So, that said, if you buy an exotic, be prepared with what goes along with it. Don't expect the world to change, and don't make buying decisions based on what other people think or do, just adjust your behavior accordingly.
It goes with the territory of ownership. Little kids get excited.... Ricers want to race..... Old guys want to reminisce.... Punks want to trash it...... EVERY now and then ........jackpot!!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have had tail lights smashed out, antennas broken off, nose damage from fat chicks photo ops, and once at the Hospital some acid was poured down a window left cracked open from the heat..... F**&%$###$ 'em all, I'm still driving a FERRARI!
BigTex - Y'all have some good water in Houston! 458beast - IMHO the things you describe are the consequences of owning any cool car - You make the scene so you're going to get attention. Enjoy... Also park where you can see it when you can, and when you can't, make sure your insurance payment is current. You also have to note the difference between collecting a car and driving one. If it is driven, accept that it won't be perfect forever
Ah I don't own one, but in the future I may purchase a 360... wow BigTex, some people have really tried to damage your car... must suck big time
it's not the photos taken of the car for personal use, it's the posting on the internet that gets me, even though some obscure the licence plate ( thank you ) when posting, still a lot of personal information is available in the background of a photo, the places one hangs out in, shops, goes to the dentist, works, kids school or activities etc. a lot of information posted to the internet for someone with less than honorable intensions to get
Well, it was over a long time period, actually..(and THREE Ferraris) ..and for many years I did take them to work. Parked by construction cranes, bulldozers and the like. But that wasn't what damaged them, it was always intentional, IMO. One of them is parked in the open at my apartment, but so far it's typical "wash me" notes left in the dust....LOL! It's not the WATER it's the Saint Arnolds beer!!! Note sponsorship logos on the door....Amber has driven a couple of times and is actually pretty good.
Carry some heat when you drive it. Some people think every F-car owner is a millionaire. Boy are they wrong. Ago
Doesn't bother me at all....it's all about sharing the experience. I am proud of owning one, and am more than happy and willing to let others enjoy the awesomeness of Ferrari with me
Pictures: Not a problem unless it's the guy in the SUV swerving dangerously as he tries to frame a shot using his phone on the highway. Parking: I try to avoid being near vehicles with big heavy doors. I'll try to park next to something "sporty", figuring the owner probably shares a similar interest in avoiding dents. I bought my Mondial pretty much on a whim -- I was looking to get another fun car, and this is what I ended up with. (In the intervening time I've become an enthusiast for the brand in a big way... definitely more of these for me.) After I got it, I realized it brought a lot of attention. As others have said, the best philosophy is to be friendly and share the fun; most people react positively to this. Sometimes it's hard to tell what people's intentions are as they approach it, but I've found that by engaging in some friendly dialogue they see that I'm just some regular guy with an unusual car and then they're ok with it. These cars do make people act strangely though, and they have a lot of weird preconceived notions about it, and me. I just tell 'em "This is Enzo Ferrari's idea of a family sedan ... see, it's got back seats. They hold grocery bags really well too!" And yeah, if people bring kids I'll let them sit in the drivers seat and, if it's not going to be obnoxious, operate the horn.
now i know why you have that username maybe put a s before the m and its all good. all the other answers thanks, know i have more knowledge of what the ferrari owner is thinking when i take pictures and where to put my cars in the future. happy driving, you guys earned it.
I don't mind one bit; the way I look at it, the car wouldn't look the way it was if its creators had not meant for it to be seen and photographed! It's a rolling work of art, IMO, and I expect it to get a lot of attention.
When I first bought my 575 I would have people taking photos of my car at every stoplight, Now not so much unless I just dont notice it as much. I dont mind people taking the photos or videos. I do hate and get very nervous then they arent paying attention to their driving and come very close to me while taking the photos. I am always very gracious when pepole ask about my car. I answer any questions they might have, let them look have a child sit in it if they want. Its what we all should do to share the experience since these arent cars most dont get to see every day. As far as parking, I only go to places that offer valet parking so its up front where I can see it and I always tell the valet I will park it myself just show me where. They are ok with that and I usually tip them very well anyway. Next time some is snaping a photo of you in your car take one of them!
I don't understand why the question was even asked. Remember, it's not you people are interested in, it's the CAR. Why should anyone care about pics taken etc.? Now, if you drive a Roller, it's a different story!
I am sorry to say that I sold my360 spider simply because I could not live with the small minded preconcieved ideas of many people especially in the immediate area where I live. A typical comment from a family member.."Well you can never say how your business is struggling again!" This despite working hard for my entire life risking everything, comments from customers such as.." We must be paying you to much." All said with an element of tongue in cheek deep seated meaning. I also found myself wanting to bubble wrap the car it was so beautiful and immaculate that I dreaded rough roads stones and getting it damaged this despite knowing the insurance would cover it. I think its called OCD, My biggest displeasure was that of the general engine noise and whirring gearbox, I reckon it sounded like an old motorbike, I also disliked the seating position and the poor visibility, all things the admiring public dont know about, despite this I still have an element of regret about not still owning it. Also I feel that when especially around parts of Britain at the moment many people cant even afford the rent it did not seem clever to be in such an exotic car, maybe its my conditioning and I guess we are what we are and even some multi millionaires I know drive around in old cars wearing odd socks, and I know these people could afford to buy Ferrari dealerships let alone just one car, anyway ive gone back to a plain silver Boxster S. kind regards and I look forward to seeing many Ferraris in the future, I love the Ferrari name and all that it stands for and I just wish I could mentally bring myself to own one , hope this makes sense Mike
I love all the attention my Mondial gets. My only request is that people not drag their fingers across the paint, touching, leaving finger prints etc on the paint that I have worked so hard to perfect and detail. Other than that, I welcome all Ferrari lovers to come check out the car anytime I'm out with it. I'm also honest about the affordability of the older models like mine. (We'll affordable to purchase anyway) Dave
It's not my design, it's Pinin Farina's. Although, to be honest, while the 328 is a great handling car, it's not the prettiest one ever made. (That'd be more like the 246GT or the 330P3/P4, imo. Which aren't necessarily the best handling ones.) I bought mine at a discount and fixed it up mechanically. Cosmetically, it's a "driver". So I don't worry too much about parking. No more than I worry about parking any other car. But my first car was an old Imperial, and then a nine pass wagon. That makes you aware of where your corners are, and how to park with precision. (Parking a Fury III land yacht in University City on-street parking defines "tight fit". ) I try to park next to a post, as close as possible, to leave extra room for the space next to me. It's not about speed. It's about precision. Speed takes care of itself, with practice.
