Here she is, the object of my affection. I just bought this Mondial QV (Seattle Area) (says 85, but may be really late 84) and I am happy guy. I just wondered if anyone knew the car? Service records VERY spotty and no record of Timing Belt service up to the current 29k miles.

SOOOOOO it is in the garage on stands with rear timing belt cover off, waiting for me to decide how far I will go with reconditioning her. All belts - of course, but what about water hoses, particularly the ones that are nasty to get to, like the ones from front to back? Re-build water pump and replace thermostat - oh yeah, doing that. Already fixed brake light switch (contact material inside switch gone, replaced with small spot of solder) and the fuel door solenoid (plastic lining melted causing plunger to bind).

Found some wierd stuff to do with federalization - wierd orange duct down to valve welded to exhaust. Duct seems pinched in one spot- more on that when I get to putting her back together.

It's a 500CC Mach III isn't it? I had one when I was in the Army during the Vietnam era. Wicked fast for the time but an "interesting" handler... ;) I replaced it with a Norton Commando which leaked oil out of everything but the headlight.

    Good luck with the car!

Since we're not telling Ewendell how nice his car is, but are concentrating on the H-1, the water buffaloes were the Suzuki 750 triple 2 strokes that were water cooled. Those Kawasakis were blindingly fast in the day. My Commando leaked oil from the headlight a well as the motor/trans/primary.
Nice car, nice bike, enjoy them both

Stupid fast. In high school I stuffed a KH-750 motor into a KH-500 frame and put on some old Yamaha OW expansion chambers! Freakiest power bands of any motor I've EVER had. I'd run the castrol with nitro (for the motocross bikes) in the gas... When that thing would "come up on the pipe" it could dump you off the back, but it would pass anything on the road if you could hang on... memories. I can still smell the nitro!!!

    Amazed I'm still alive.

Oh, the Mondial is a Beauty too!

    Congrats on Ferrari!!!
Looks nice, wish I'd bought a convertible, it would be so much easier to get in & out of.
I wouldn't do the water pump & thermostat unless they're leaking or sticking, why spend $500 needlessly. Any soft hoses should be replaced, especially fuel hoses (do a forum search for reasonable prices sourcesof these). The hoses that run along the rockers are best done when replacing a clutch or a fuel tank removal if the Mondial is like the GTB/GTS. Be sure to check the cam belt drive sprockets for bearing slop when the belts are off, and if any seals on cam covers are leaking oil.

    Good luck with new toy.

You have good taste: Ferraris & Kawasaki triples!

    Kawi caught my eye, too.

Advice: You bought a beautiful car....if you want some F-Car love, don't post pics with highly distracting machinery in the background!

    Best of luck all around!

Nice Mondi! Kind of reminds me of our Garage. Here is my wife's 92 Mondial with her non-classic 07 Kawasaki (and her Malaguti). Congratulations and good luck with the belt service.

I had an RD 350 that had enormous chambered pipes, clubman bars, huge sproket on the back, oversized reeds and carbs. NO ONE could touch me from zero to 35, but after that my wad was shot.

On the mondi - did you buy that local in seattle, from a guy in leschi per chance?

Congrats Ewendell. Very nice looking car. Is that the Mondial that was on Lake City Way at the lot next to the new Mini dealership? If yes, I looked at it...a couple of times...very solid car.

There are a few Seattle area mondial owners - we should have a bbq get together sometime!

Yeah, that is from Lake City Motors. It seemed to have some servicing done at Auburn Valley Group, but no good history available. It seemed like a reasonable deal to me, but I knew nothing of the f-cars (except I wanted one) until then. Now, thanks to ferrarichat contributors I fell educated. We should do some kind of get together in the better weather? When the car is back together too.

I really hesitated to post the pic in the garage as I kind of suspected the bike might get the responses. It is fun but it scares me, fast and sloppy - not the best combination.

Thanks for all the encouragement and advice.
