Yes, this is my car that I've owned and loved for 14 years. With the recent shutting down of the old FerrariAds being replaced with the new forum style of ads, many people may have not noticed that I have reduced the price to $28,750.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferraris/399559-1983-400i-5-speed.html

I've advertised on Hemmings as well, complete with 25 photos.

1983 Ferrari 400i 5 Speed for sale | Hemmings Motor News

This car comes freshly serviced with valve adjustment, oil, filters and coolant change thanks to discovering the dreaded oil in coolant phenomenon that has been fixed by replacing the O rings below the oil filters.

Vantage Motors in Stamford, CT (my usual shop) did the work and also did a compression test that shows excellent compression on all cylinders.

If someone asked me to drive to California tomorrow, I would have no hesitation in gassing it up and heading west.

Take advantage of mid-winter President's Day pricing folks!

She looks great , and very good value compared to what we are seeing over in Europe.

One question, your headlining , Is that aftermarket or could that be requested at the factory? As I've not seen that before

    Hi Rob:

That is how it came from the factory and it is a light brown tweed type of fabric headlining.

    Geez John- $28,750??

Do I NEED a third one in my garage?

Somebody better grab this while the market for these cars is still relatively soft in the States.

    Couldnt agree more
If someone was looking for a 400 in good condition owned by an enthusiast who has run the car carefully kept in good nick and the works done engine wise then its a no brainer buy it.

What was the saying on the old Legendary Motor Cars show with Peter Klutt?

"Do you need a [insert name of great car here]? No, but do you WANT one? Absolutely!"

Actually, if I have any money left in 3 years after my twins who are now freshmen get out of college :) and depending on how my new business venture works out, the first thing that I will try to do is buy back s/n 46153!

I've been a Ferrari fan since I was a kid and, while I love the vintage V12s, such as the 275GTB, the 330 GTC, the 250GTE, the 365 GTC/4, etc. as well as maybe the newer cars, such as the 550/575 Maranello, to me the 400i is the perfect bridge between a car that has enough of the classic V12 simplicity and lack of computers while being new enough to have decent air conditioning and not to need a full restoration as long as it has been cared for and maintained.

I sold my 400i once when I thought I needed to only to regret it every day thereafter. I was lucky enough to get mine back but you may not. The joy you get from that car goes way beyond driving it if you are like me. I know you didn't ask for my two cents, but I couldn't resist offering my experience in this regard.

I've been meaning to post this for a few days but the car has been sold to a new owner with houses in New Jersey and Maryland. I'll let him decide if he wants to announce himself.

We corresponded a bit, he came up to see it and drive it, he spoke with Vantage Motors and we went immediately to a Wells Fargo branch down the street to complete the deal.

I guess that the coming Spring must be arousing interest in the car and the ad in Hemmings stirred up a lot of interest all of a sudden.

Any way, here are some photos, one of me saying goodbye to my 400i and the other two of an interesting 275GTB/4 recently purchased by a local owner and at Vantage for some checking out and servicing.

The new owner of the 275GTB/4 paid $1.4 million for his new beauty, the new owner of 46153 paid less than that. ;)

    John

Glad you finally managed to sell your car. Will you be maintaining your 400 database or be letting it shuffle of this mortal coil? I hope you will look in on the forum from time to time!

I've had occasional thoughts of selling mine, but I think I would miss it too much. I might be tempted to swap for 400GT though for a change.
