You like that? Take a look at what Doug is up tooooo..... http://www.arcfabrication.com/titaniumratbike.html
Wow, That is tempting. I may sacrifice my beloved 998R for that puppy! By the way, is that streel legal in the US? I got my 998R registered as a 998. When I went to the DMV I handed the lady the Manufacturers Certificate of Origin that clearly said "Not for Highway use, for competition use only" and was sort of twidling my thumbs and whistling nonchalantly while she stamped it and handed me my registration. I dont think I could pull that off with this one.
That has got to be an awesome bike, looks sweet! Ditto on wanting to know if it's street legal or not in the US. Neat story One of my favorite bikes, any pics you don't mind posting up?
awesomeeee, taking in consideration the technology & performance of that superb machine , the price it`s a bargain
I think it will be kinda the same with this one. Although from what I understand, its pretty easy to get 996R's and 998R's on the road in most states, same way people were getting R7's on the street a few years ago. I have to wonder though, am I the only one that thinks it looks a little "chunky"? I love the slim, compact nature of the 916/996/998 series. The 999, and now this, seem slightly larger by comparison.
It is street legal in the US!! I'm in. Delears need to put their orders in by 1:00 today. The whole lot will sell out. I hear Leno bought a 999R just so he could get the "preferential treatment"
Doesn't appear to be chunky...pics can be decieving though.. http://www.raptorsandrockets.com/images/D16RR_006r.jpg
I meant from the side profile. If its anything like any of their previous bikes. it will probably feel like your knee's are touching in the middle when you sit on it. Definately an amazing bike, and congrats to Ducati for moving the goalposts even further on a road bike. I wonder if its going to have any type of a traction control system, which seems to be the next step for motorcycles on the road, now that the race teams are using them.
Should be, it has headlights, taillights, and turn signals on both ends. I'd imagine the emissions will probably not work in California though.
It was confirmed by one of the members on one of the Ducati forums that it will be US legal, California is still up in the air though.
My 998RS cannot be registered on the street. I wouldn't want to, though, as it doesn't have a kick stand, lights, signals, or even provisions for any of those things.
Kip, Did you look at the link I posted? Did anybody? I guess a 265 Lb. hotted-up 1000 DS, doesn't tempt you? http://www.arcfabrication.com/titaniumratbike.html
You PM'd me that a little while back....its awsome stuff, especially the exhausts....What tempts me about the RR is the L-4 twin pulse! The closer and closer I get to a Ducati, the more and more I fear bikes!
A V4 Ducati for the road? I don't know if it's going to catch up. Most of my friends who ride Ducati here in UK consider that only the V-twin configuration is appropriate for a Duke. Multi cylinder, we leave that to the Japs. There is much more interest in the 'much-talked-about' the next 1200cc V-twin Ducati superbike.
