Autosport compiled some interesting statistics, along with the praise Felipe deserves. For me, it was not Felipe that failed Ferrari, it was Ferrari that failed Felipe. If it is Kimi in the second car, I hope he destroys Alonsohole.

No, do not like Alonso, never did, always happy when he lost. He needs to move on, along with Luca.

    Hi Ron,

As difficult as it is for me to admit, Felipe was or is no longer the same driver prior to the Hungary crash. In my book, he's always a good guy, and tried his best. But he lacked consistency. I had the pleasure meeting him earlier this year, he was very humble, down to earth person. His mom and dad were great people too.

I think he did his best, and he can be proud of what he achieved.

The record books may say that Felipe Massa never won the World Championship with Ferrari, but anyone who saw him that evening in Brazil in 2008 knows that he is by nature a great champion – and more of a sportsman than some who have worn the crown…

Here here. In formula one today, you need the car and the luck to win, not just talent. Felipe has been a loyal and committed Ferrari driver, but since his accident, maybe has been unable to regularly unlock 100% of the talent we know he has, and his luck has been few and far between. Forza Felipe, thanks for everything you achieved, a nicer chap is hard to find in F1

When praising Massa's why do we have to lower ourselves to damning Alonso. Facts are Alonso has the same number of wins with only 70 races with Ferrari, compared to 132!

Where Massa's is stronger than Alonso and Schumacher is sportsmanship, definitely ... probably why he didn't win more?

What have you done for me lately.

Phil is a nice guy. Time for him to move on and time for SF to maximize their performance on the track. Keeping Phil would signal to the team: we are not really serious about winning.

SF patiently waited for Phil to regain his prowess. He fell short and has a medical reason for it. No hard feelings. It's past time for a change.

    Quantity, but not quality.

He seems like a great guy always handled himself as a loyal #2 and still almost pulled off a championship. He's gone now, I don't see much how he held things back this year as the car is just not good enough to turn the Bulls into steers.

I agree with those that that say we wish him a gracious good bye and thanks for the years of service he gave, he almost lost his life after all. I think it is pretty tough to come back 100% from a head injury and I am glad Ferrari stuck with him for a while in return for his loyalty to the team.

Why pile on when a man's honorably conducted F1 career is wrapping up. People should be cursing the wind tunnel engineers : )

I think i can also add that Phil is a team player, and a people person. He's friendly, chatty, and i don't recall him complaining about anything, even when he was asked to move aside in Germany.

As of the latest rumours, he might head off to Lotus or even Williams, because, it eases the pressure off him, and he can enjoy his F1 twilight years there.

I'd love to see massa go to another team and make a massive success, really up the performance of whoever it is, and have a couple of years being recognised for the talent he still has, while he won't have the pressure that comes with Ferrari and the need to use all 100% all the time. A midfield team will be flattered if massa is even at 80% !

It's a nice dream, but you can count, on the fingers of one hand, the drivers that have ever left a top team for a lower team and made a success of it. The only example I can think of is Kimi... Personally, I think he is going to fade away to zero within 2 seasons.

Massa won´t find another F1 seat for next year.

He´ll be doing NASCAR, then some rallyes and some years later probably will be back at Ferrari.

SF has done as much or more for Phil than any other driver I can think of. think Phil did his best. After the accident, he never fully recovered to his prior performance.

Too bad Red Bull filled Weber's seat... would have been interesting to see what Massa could do there.

I'm a Massa fan, but I think his F-1 days are over ... or at least his top line drive days.

He is lucky to be racing at all after the accident, so you cant take that away from him, he was always fast and raced against the best ... and held his own.

I would assume he will have a long career in LeMans or Indy... God forbid - NASCAR or brazillian touring car/ nascar...

Nitpicking statistics is easy. Works also in reverse: Just ignore eg the WDC years from JV or Hakkinen's careers and there isn't much left.

Fact is that Massa was not worthy the Ferrari after his accident.

However, if the rumors are true, he could pop up alongside Lettuce!..... That could be another fun pairing..... We'll leave predictions of the outcome until after its reality again, should it happen.... ;)

+1 as they've said, he'll always be member of the Ferrari family.

Alongside Mark at Porsche?..... ;) Way to get ejected from the family PDQ, :)

I'd love to see him in the Fauxtus seat!

    Cheers,
    Ian

Felipe is a nice guy but he should have called it quits himself for failing to perform to standard. Alonso is the greatest and you should consider getting on the bandwagon, get some Alonso T-Shirts, maybe an Alonso hat? Before you know it, you'll forget all of the reasons you dislike him now and the world will be a better place? I'm just thinking out loud here. Turn on the TV and watch Alonso drive like the wind.
