    I have a question:

Is there a correlation between the wear of adjustable struts and their "tune"? I have Koni Yellows in the front of my car (a 200SX SE-R) and Koni Reds in the rear, and as most of you probably know, the yellows are externally adjustable while the reds must be removed for adjustment. When I installed them on my car I set the fronts and rears to their medium settings but later found that optimum handling was acheived when the yellows are completely firmed up. I can stand the ride quality change, but wonder if it will adversely affect strut wear.

Both the front and the rear struts have been matched with an aftermarket spring rate well within the struts' recommened limits. As the nature of the installment prevents me from replacing the yellow inserts without replacing the housings (the inserts have been shortened so that I could lower the car without reducing suspension travel, a common problem with my car, and thus needed to be chemically welded into place), I want them to last the life of the car, which is either till the motor goes or I sell it.

In theory I could suck it up and take the rears off and set them to their lowest setting so that I could hopefully run the fronts on the medium setting with the same effect, but I like the apparent handling advantage the fronts give when completely firmed up. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks in advance.

    Matt
