Very interesting that this thread pops up right at the moment that im about to buy a car with topspeed headers, topspeed cats and an aftermarket exhaust. However i already thought it had a very deep and not Ferrari like high pitched sound. Am i correct in stating after reading the previous comments here that its due to the 4-1 design rather than the 4-2-1 like IPE/Capristo has? am i correct in saying that if i were to take one of those it will have a higher pitched sound? For me it sounds too much musclecar in an exotic, if i wanted that id of been better of buying a Z06 (yes those are considered supercars in EU mostly). and i definately prefer the F1 like noises (especially with an Sline exhaust mated to it)

What makes the car sound like a musclecar is during low rpms and idle is due to unequal length headers (top speed, etc.)

I'd say Fabio's handmade beauties you can add to this list of proven products as well.

California does not have CARB requirements for exhausts post cat so no smog station will fail you for that. Headers and cats are a different story. As for the exhaust the only law which dictates what you can/cannot do states:

"The sale and installation of an aftermarket exhaust system remains legal in California so long as it does not exceed a sound level of 95-decibels when tested under SAE J1492 and complies with all other exhaust and safety laws and regulations."

Testing exhaust volumes does not fall into smog check territory so it doesn't really matter what you have unless you're ticketed while driving.

Ah ok, Thanks for the information. In general, there's a lot to consider when looking at these cars, but in CA it's even more confusing. Really appreciate the info.

Also, I'm guessing you're shopping for a car that is out of state since the sale of any cars already registered in California require the seller to have a passed smog certificate for no more than 90 days prior to the sale?

Not sure how familiar you are with these or how much time you might have spent reading the forum, be sure to check all the threads about common issues or PPI others have done. Not all PPI's are done thoroughly so it would be great to compile a checklist of things you want looked at. Also, be sure you have good documentation and ask for all OEM parts that might have been replaced (like the original exhaust) if they are still available. Sometimes owners have these in storage and forget all about them.

Hey Buddy I bought Top Speed Headers for my F430 but the O2 Sensor is not in the correst location. Did you have to do any modification to connect the O2 sensor.?

No modification that I am aware of. I have replaced an o2 sensor and didn’t see anything unusual in terms of where it was connecting.
