I do not think they would do him a favour with this...he would face a team mate that knows the car for half a year and would most likely drive circles around him... If you want to destroy his reputation and self confidence then put him mid season in a car he does not know. Unlike when joining Williams he can not even simply practice with the car on privately hired tracks.
Administration is only temporary and not a long term solution. Some vultures can swoop, mostly for asset-stripping.
Not at all surprising. Williams has spoken to the struggle, but have not asked for any kind of emergency life line. It's not Liberty's place to air Williams struggles... only Williams should do that. THEN Liberty should respond quickly.
If Williams were to use the emergency life line and I was Force India, I would veto the funding responding in kind.
I'd love to see Stroll immediately move to Force India. Williams would be forced to give Kubica the vacant seat because it wouldn't cost them anything to do so...and it will give the press something to write about and fans to cheer for at Williams. I think Force India would release Ocon and he could move to Haas and replace Grosjean or to McLaren and replace Vandooren. Red Bull could give Ricco a gardeners leave and put Gasly in the car right now. It might be great to see next years mid field drivers changes happening in the middle of this season.
I wonder if Papa Stroll is going to stick his fingers in the workings of the team, or if he's going to leave well enough alone. It's easier to dismantle a team than it is to build one. They should change the name to Four Thindia.
Papa Stroll is a nasty business man to work with. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he starts messing with the internal workings of the team....And that'll be a catastrophic mistake.
Company questions Force India takeover AUGUST 22, 2018 Force India's takeover by the Lawrence Stroll-led consortium could have hit a road bump. A company called Uralkali, headed by Russian Dmitry Mazepin whose son is a Force India test driver, is questioning the Stroll takeover. Uralkali claims it put together a "competitive bid" for the team, but says the conditions placed upon it by the administrators were unfair. In a statement, the Mazepin-led potash company said the administrators "refused to engage" and "did not reply to phone calls and emails". "Uralkali considers that the process conducted by the administrator may not be in the best interests of Force India's creditors and other stakeholders, and the sport in general," it added.
Uralkali can question and gripe all they want. Unless they have skin in the game it's just ruffled feathers for not being heard.
I think what Jacques really want's to see is his friend lance being trounced by one of the force india boys!
Is this what formula 1 has been reduced to? Instead of men competing it’s now a politically correct “sport” that rich kids dads buy for them.
Force India F1 team could run under new name later in 2018 season - https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/138183/force-india-could-run-under-new-name-this-year Force India could run under a new identity in Formula 1 this season if the FIA is satisfied that relevant legal issues have been properly addressed. It is understood that the team may be allowed by the FIA to run under its usual name at Spa if a situation with the new entry cannot be resolved in time. An unexpected situation arose last week when plans for a consortium led by Lawrence Stroll to take the team out of administration could not be completed within the two-week deadline, mainly because of legal problems surrounding shareholders Vijay Mallya and the Sahara Group. Consent from 13 Indian banks was required for the deal to go through, while it is understood that there was also a lien from drinks company Diageo in relation to a loan made to Mallya. Failed bidder Urakali suggested on Tuesday that the sale process was flawed, noting that "despite expiration of the deadline set by the Administrator, no rescue plan was submitted to the court for approval, which confirmed Uralkali's view that the rescue option was not achievable in the timeline and under conditions proposed by the administrator." Late last week Stroll switched strategy and bought the assets of the team - its cars, Silverstone factory, equipment and everything required to run a team. The actual entry in theory still belongs to Force India, which remains in administration but now has no physical assets. The entry is usually regarded as a valuable element of any team sale, but the move by Renault, McLaren and Williams to block the transfer of commercial rights to Force India's new owners, meaning the team would not get the prize money it accrued in recent seasons, had already created a stumbling block. This meant making a fresh start was not as much of a penalty as it would otherwise have been. Although FIA sporting regulations specify teams have to enter for the following season by November 30, Article 8.1 appears to leave the door open for changes at a later date. It reads: "Applications at other times will only be considered if a place is available and on payment of a late entry fee to be fixed by the FIA. Entry forms will be made available by the FIA who will notify the applicant of the result of the application within thirty days of its receipt." A space is therefore available as the new team will replace itself, and in the context of the overall deal a late entry fee will be a minor consideration for Stroll. The process of creating a new entry from an existing team is a complex one, with the Concorde Agreement to be considered as well as FIA regulations. One legal complication is that an F1 team's entry has to be submitted via an ASN, which would previously have been India's. Force India logos and references to Vijay Mallya's companies Kingfisher and UB Group were stripped from the team's trucks and signage at Spa on Wednesday.
Jumping off the ship or was it pushed lol - https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/138188/fernley-leaves-force-india-role Bob Fernley is no longer associated with the Force India Formula 1 team following the purchase of its assets by a consortium led by Lawrence Stroll. Long associated with Vijay Mallya, Fernley held the role of deputy team principal since the former Jordan, Midland and Spyker team was rebranded under new ownership in 2008. He was in effect in charge of the team on race weekends when Mallya - who has been unable to leave the UK for the last couple of years - was not in attendance. He also dealt with matters related to the FIA and the F1 organisation. It's understood that Fernley was informed by Stroll last week that he would not be part of the revised team structure. Chief operating officer Otmar Szafnauer is currently heading the management team. Meanwhile the team is in the process of changing its identity and in effect becoming a new entry, although it's not yet clear whether the paperwork will be completed for this weekend's Belgian GP. An announcement is expected soon.
New broom sweeps clean ! Bob Fernley was the kingpin at Force India. Probably the Stroll consortium didn't want to keep someone closely associated with Vijay Mallya. Otmar Szafnauer is next to get the elbow treatment, I presume.
That didn't take long. 11 days ago, I wondered how long it would take Papa Stroll to start fiddling with things...and here we are. I'm not that surprised he didn't take the time to see how the operation ran before tossing people out.
Well, I won't give Force Stroll another year before joining Williams at the bottom of the pit....With the Stroller as a driver and firing people like Bob fernley (one of the biggest responsibles for the amazing job that the team as been doing with not so much money) they can already book a place at the end of the grid....
