Force India can be transformed in Brabham

Never really understood "Force India" as a name for a F1 team, makes no sense, even if the owner is from India.

 

Alfa Romeo competed in 1974 with the 33TT12 before giving up the ghost late in the season. They won the championship in 1975 against NO opposition.

 

Alfa's swansong ...

 

How about Force Majeure? It has a nice ring to it.

 

An ugly livery matches an equally ugly team name.

I hope they remain competitive, but undergo rebranding.

 

Don't forget Mssr. Hesketh.

 

The name is not their biggest issue it is Perez. Heck the guy keeps driving into his team mate who is obviously faster and could be giving the team serious results.

The Force India Formula 1 team has taken the first steps towards a possible rebranding as Force One.

Documents reveal that on May 31 and June 6 new limited companies were registered in the UK under the names Force One Grand Prix, Force One Racing, Force One Team, Force One Technologies, Force One Hospitality and Force One Brand.

The only director listed is Dr Thiruvannamalai Laskshimi Kanthan, an accountant and financial consultant and long time associate of Dr Vijay Mallya.

He is also a director of Force India and three other companies connected with it.

Mallya is planning a change to a more generic name in an attempt to open up options for sponsorship, given that it has proved hard to raise funds in India.

Force India chief operating officer Otmar Szafnauer admitted that aside from Mallya's own Kingfisher brand there had only been "a couple, but not very many" Indian sponsors and that the loss of the nation's grand prix after 2013 had effectively stalled interest.

 

I think it's a deliberate gesture on Mallya's part, to distance itself from India, a country that accuses him of embezzlement of public funds and wants to throw him in jail !!!

The Force India boss is now a pariah in his own country after the collapse of his Kingfisher airline.

 

Would surprise me.

To me, the holy cow bit of the article is the news that Papa Stroll is paying Williams $80m this year to give Baby Stroll a seat! $80m!!! Wow.

You could fly twice to the ISS for that money and (in my book) would have accomplished more

Makes totally sense. It's a question of ROI: instead of investing 80m in Williams and having zero return, buy Force India, try to get some sponsors and perhaps another pay driver, and have Lance as number one driver. When Lance gets bored and decides to do someting else, just sell off the team.
