Unfortunately not mine, but a large local dealer here has a red one with white stripes... I dropped by Saturday and they want $350K for it! Probably just a ploy to keep it in the showroom for publicity. I usually don't like stripes on cars but the GT just doesn't look right without them, kind of like Tom Selleck without the mustache.

Here's a link to the Ford GT color selector and everyone can check it out for themselves:

350k? Yeah... the dealer must of picked up a crack pipe before coming up with that number.

Surely Jim G. will pick up a yellow one, to match his other yellow one, right?

two hundred over sticker. that is truly impressive.

Q: would you rather have an F40 plus enough cash left over for three years fo maintenance, or a new Ford GT?

F40, even if it were "slower."
That said, I think the GT is definitely worth MSRP

there was a red/white stripes one at the Texas State Fair and it looked great. I doubt I'd pay $350K for it, but it looked really good. The new mustang on the otherhand looked like a cheap retro piece of plastic.

Same impression I had. One just came into town and is parked front and center at the Ford dealership. I didn't even bother to go look at it, because it just looked so -- cheap!

i think you guys might be being a bit too hard on the mustang. remember, this car starts out at $19,410. it's not a Phantom. it's not a 612 Scaglietti. it's not a Continental GT.

i like the design - i think it's historically relevant and far mroe interesting than the last version.

Who here given the chance would not buy one for the MSRP, to keep not to flip. I certainly would.

    Remember what FORD means:

    Fix
    Or
    Repair
    Daily.

    F40 anyday over a GT40.

IMO, the fact that the stripes break up the monotony makes it look good in all the colors offered, including Quick Silver, which I hadn't seen it in yet.

There was a silver one at the Chicago Auto Show. I thought it looked great, but I'm partial to silver cars.

Six months and you'll be able to get one at MSRP. 12 months and you're looking sub-MSRP. Keep the faith.
