Its only to be produced 2 years after the fine dealers killed the Golden Goose with price gouging. The initial excitement/hype has gone. Many 05s still on the showroom floor but the 06 in Gulf blue/orange looks great. This will surly be collectable.
What's the cheapest anyone has seen? I was in one a week ago. Shutting the door feels like your getting your head removed. Other than that, sounds great, looks cool, it's on my list.
yup the new crash standards come into effect later this year and the GT won't meet them. they definitely knew that going into the game. though the initial dealer insanity definitely did put a damper on the whole thing. i certainly walked away from the whole thing after trying to buy one from my local dealers. doody.
Dealers are no different than the rest of us. If they had an early Ford GT, and one buyer would pay $150K, and another would pay $200K, any rational person would take the $200K.
it's not entirely that simple. the dealers i spoke with wouldn't even let you spec a car. they spec'd the cars and then they'd show up and they'd auction them out (in theory - in practice they all sat on the lot for long periods of time). i wanted a configuration they'd never order for sale via an auction, so i was SOL. doody.
Apparently there's plans that the Shelby daytona retro ( Or GR i guess?) by Geroge saradakis is going to be made later on. I believe it is in '09? Either way chin up boys she's a beaut!!
You are right, most of the cars were ordered by the dealers, fully loaded, with stripes, red calipers, optional wheels, and the $4000 upgraded stereo with fugly subwoofer between the seats. I finally found a dealer last fall who let me spec the car (blue, no stripes, no options except deleting the standard side stripes). Here it is next to a buddy's Mk. I GT40. GORGEOUS!!!!! i wanted a black car with no stripe and deleted side stripes. no way they were gonna spec that for an auction setup. enjoy it in good health! doody.
Here ya go: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Ford-GT-2005-Ford-GT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ116478QQihZ002QQitemZ4645979242QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Ford-GT-2006-GT-McIntosh-No-Stripes-Brand-New_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ116478QQitemZ4643538263QQrdZ1 Side stripes are vinyl tape, peel 'em off!
Does anyone here know how much the original GT40 mk1 road versions usually go for at auction? I can't find an old ad I saw a few months back where a red/tan one sold for around $150-$200k.
Awesome. Your car looks great but I'm in love w/ that Mk. I. Is that an original or a replica. Whichever it is, do you have any more pictures of either cars?
I would say if you are at all compelled by the car, between now and August (when they stop production) is a great time to buy. I bought one to "potentially" replace my 360 Modena F1 and it has WAY exceeded my expectations. You will not be disappointed with this car and you may not get a better chance to buy one than the next few months. This thing is right on par with respect to performance & excitement with a Carrera GT or an Enzo. You should be able to pick up the color you want at sticker or below. As mentioned above, you will probably have to live with the $4,000 Macintosh radio/subwoofer option though. Do it! Do it!
That's an original, more info here: http://www.racingicons.com/gt/1036.htm Here's a couple more photos of mine: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I actually found FChat while thinking about a GT and found this website http://www.fordgtprices.com/pages/9/index.htm On it was a discussion about the GT on this lil ole' forum and I was hooked. BTW amazing car GT 40 Fan - stunning color and the special order has got to make it rarer and add value in the long run. I for one just don't think these cars will hold value at the current prices, just too many of them made and the demand has been fading - unlike the F430 and the 360 before it. But in a way thats a good thing for a fan, at some point these will be a steal.
Sorry, they are not painted on. Here's an online tour http://www.fordvehicles.com/fordgt/media_gallery.asp?gallery=CURRENT_VIDEO (click on Ford GT Plant Tour video)
Wow, that black one with the 6 spoke wheels looks stunning! At that price, I'd easily take it over an F430 at MSRP (assuming I'm not allowed to flip it ). GT Fan, you're right about the figure I gave for an original GT40. I don't think I remembered correctly what it was. Don't the originals go for $475-$675k? Original non-race historic ones that is...
Talked with a dealer earlier today. The " Heritage " blue is a $13k option. Seems the gouging has'nt stopped. GT Fan; NICE CAR ! Theres a Yellow with black stripe car here in DFW for 150k but the color does'nt appeal to me which is strange since it looks killer on Ferraris ETC. Maybe the stripe ? I'm thinking one can be ordered between MSRP and invoice. Doesnt hurt to ask.
LOL - Thats your site? Look at the first page - you say they're painted on, so I was using you as the reference. great site BTW
