I just had my first inspection of a Ford GT. Anyone who thinks this car compares on any level with a Ferrari is a joker. Fit and finish is terrible, and the interior looks like a poor first attempt by a confused student. No thank you! If you have one and can get your money out of it, dump it. JMHO

It's the performance you pay mostly for.... The leather, soft seatings, nice smell comes free of charge.... In fact, that's how Ferrari used to be....!!!

Good point, but then again Ford has been building cars for a long time.

I love GT look. Far more than 430. Performances seems to be great as well. As a cruiser (Gran Turismo means that, after all) I think is great. Building quality I cannot say as I never saw one in the flash. With the money you save on the buying price I guess that you can have all interior rebuilt...
    Ciao

Well from what I hear they're pretty comfortable actually and if its a ford it should be reliable. I like white with blue stripes. Performance is excellent it seems although they do seem to be outrageous gas hogs even for supercars! I'm reminded of Jeremy Clarkson running out of money on a road trip to france during an episdoe haha

I also remember reading his editorial stating how troublesome the "security" feature was and returned the car after too much hassle.

I think the Ford GT looks cool, but if I could afford one I wouldn't spend the money.

One thing no one has talked about is what happens when it comes to service. I own a Ford Escape that I use as my winter/work car and whenever I have a service issue they treat me like a moron. There is such a difference in the way service is handled at BMW, Mercedes, Ferrari, that I could not see paying that kind of money for a car and then have to deal with their service department. There is no way that it's worth it. BTW do they have a special mechanic there trained to deal with GT issues?

That is what I was thinking as well. It looks just terrific though and the performance is stunning.

About the problematic security system on Jeremy Clarksons GT. It was actually an aftermarket system installed in his. Not really too fair to blame ford for that one. By the way he did buy another one after selling the first....without the alarm system. I do have to say, it did do well on thier track.
    Regards Darrell.

There is a titanium metallic no stripe GT in the dealer a mile from me that i have looked at. The outside appearance is stunning, really a unique and beautiful design. The engine bay is very impressive with blue crinkle valve covers and lambo like rear tires. I could only look into the interior and it looked good to me. Clarkson talks about its comfort and performance.

    What else do you want?

He actually bought his original one back.

Good point about the service department aspect. Pull up in a $170k car and the car in front of you is a $16k econobox.

I like the looks of the Ford but I don't know that I will buy one for list. It will be a steal at 90k in a few years.

It's a continuation MKII built by Lee. It's eligible for FIA papers but it's not an original. IMO it's the most "original" continuation GT 40 made and as H&M were the original mfg. of MKII's Lee's MKII's are as good as it gets.

Being a ford mechanic myself, I can say that there would be a trained tech with credentials to service the GT. Ford requires certification of the techs on the floor before they can sell the car, same applies to the 6.0 diesel trucks and so forth. Lincoln owners get special treatment that the focus owners dont get and a GT owner would almost get sucked off my the manager instead of being treated like a moron. If you are treated like a moron, you are either at the wrong dealer or you are simply a moron.

I wouldn't mind getting a GT. I also prefer the look of the GTX1 over the 360/F430 spider. The GTX1 conversion make it more useable in parking situations (doors don't need to fully open to let you out). Don't know about the quality of service but I imagine it would be fairly cheap.
