YES this is relavant to the Ferrari discussion forum because we have discussed the Ford GT in comparison with Ferrari many times. Apparently all produced Ford GTs have been recalled due to suspension problems. http://www.autoweek.com/news.cms?newsId=101451 What a surprise! Damn Americans...
328's had a similar problem if I am not mistaken....we can hardly complain with all the recalls and TSB's that Ferrari has issued over the years....
C'mon, what did we expect here. FORD=RECALL , they go hand in hand. This "GT 40" is already receiving an exciting start before it's out of the stable.
There's nothing wrong with recalls guys, it's when companies don't do recalls that you have your really big problems.
Gee, and how many design flaws do Ferraris have that the company tells you to go scratch? Hmmm...quite a few I'd say! So a brand new car design has a problem and Ford wants to fix it. Personally I LIKE that attitude. Ken
They have a casting problem which they've now fixed and they're recalling and replacing the defective parts. So what?
Really, what is the big deal. You don't like the GT? Rather have a company admit to a problem and fix it then to have my wife find out with a phone call from someone she does not know. Not that I'm lucky enough to be getting one.
I would concur. Admitting and fixing a problem is the behavior we want from a car manufacturer so they're doing the right thing. But will we ever forget that Ford = Frequent Overhaul; Rapid Depreciation?
When you consider the volume of cars made by Ford as compared to Ferrari, Ferrari has a MUCH worse record of recalls than Ford. And, what makes matters worse is Ferrari will not issue a recall unless its safety related and forced to do so by the government whereas Ford will often do so voluntarily even if it's not safety related. Its one thing to be a Ferrari fan, I am. It's another to put down other marques just because they are not Ferrari. The fact is the new Ford GT is almost as fast as the Enzo for about 1/5 the cost and IMHO the GT looks much better than the Enzo anyway. So there, run tell that!
problem is Ford cars kill people rollovers pinto fires truck fires plus, i think ford recalls everything they ever made, time after time after time you can't compare Ford to Ferrari you compare Ferrari to Lambo or Porsche, low volume high performance equivalent you can compare Ford to Toyota though then the picture of how poor a quality Ford really is becomes clear they're junk
The Ford GT40 wipped Ferrari's butt in the 1960s and looks to do it again with the new GT. I love Ferraris , but when it comes to racing...FORD is the KING. Ford has won more races in the last 10 years than Ferrari has even entered! And Ford isn't afraid to race in all types of races whereas Ferrari seems to only be willing to race in F1 which has become the joke of motorsports for its BORING lack of competition. And build quality, come on guys...Ferraris have more problems with their few cars that are driven less than 3k miles a year on average than Ford has with its millions of cars driven over 15k miles per year on average.
Well I personally do not like Fords, but you have to respect a company who makes a recall for safety sake on a primo vehicle like the GT. Don't you know how hard it was for those executives in their offices to listen to their design team telling them there was a problem? Kudos to Ford for making the right call even tho I am sure they were embarrassed by it. hehe, maybe in NASTYCARS (nascar).
I respect Ford for recalling the GT, but they did learn their lessons with the Pinto and trucks that caught fire and paid big time for it. When it comes to racing Ferrari is still king easily, Ferrari still holds the most GT car constructor championships in racing even though they stopped GT racing in the early 70s and adding in all the F1 victories nothing needs to be said about that.
Fords have contained design flaws that have taken peoples' lives. I wouldn't put Ferrari in that category. And I also wouldn't consider Ford to be more successful at racing than Ferrari.
Ford has been in business twice as long and builds more cars in a month as Ferrari has in it's history. Besides both starting with the letter F I don't believe any comparisons between the two companies can be made. I have a couple of large binders full of Ferrari recalls and even more of technical service bulletins. Now Ferrari couldn't even be bothered to start doing that until the 70's, many years after they started to build cars. Adjusting for the number of cars built and the number of different models produced does anybody really care to try to compare that record to Ford? The number of those types of documents produced for 348's alone is astonishing. Quit being coolaid drinkers. Ferrari makes cars we all have an affection for but they are far from perfect. In fact when you get right down to it many of them are shoddily built, they just happen to be exciting to drive. I personally don't have any desire to own a Crown Victoria but to say a 360 is better built is crazy.
