    Phil... its called a Ford GT... they dropped the "40" part on the new car cuz they lost their own trademark and didnt want to pay to get it back.

    I hate to pull this thread away from its initial topic, but who exactly did Ford lose the GT40 name to? I've heard this also but always wondered who took the trademark.

    Ford never trademarked "GT40". Safir Engineering UK did it in the '80s. 2-3 years ago Ford didn't want to pay Safir for the name they never registered, hence no 40.
