As I took apart my baby today to ship out my entire interior pieces to Robbie for refinishing I noticed that there are quite a few "Made in Germany" components.

Much to my surprise...(am I the only one who has ever noticed these????).....the connectors underneath my middle console almost made me cry.....

I would laugh, but my Pantera has a Ford Motor...not that there are any Ford parts in it any more. :)

Ford in Europe is not the same as Ford in North America. The Ford GT isn't even a North American design. neither were the Ford RS200, Ford Escort WRC, original and new Ford GT(40)....etc.

You would gasp if you knew how many switches, connectors, etc are made by Ford in Ferrari's. All the buttons on the shifter plate---Hazard, gas release button, etc are all made by Ford.

360 CS carbon fiber mirrors? Yep, tooled by Ford

A Ferrari is a mongrel of many different carmakers and third party part manufacturers. When you see a plate or sticker somewhere that says "Made in Italia", it's referring to the sticker, not the part. ;)

This came from the BMW dealership like this: "German - We Produce Quality".......made in China.

Was the box made in Germany?

The GT40 began as a Lola design, but was pretty much American. If you look at who developed and campaigned the car, it is as American as Ferrari is Italian.

The new GT is absolutely American, designed and built in the USA (except the gearbox, that's British). The car was mostly built by Saleen (with Ford union workers actually installing the completed drivetrain).

You act as if there is no one in America with interconnecting brain cells. I hate to burst the bubble, but if you want custom bits done right, it is still the good 'ol USA.

I'd rather Ford bits than Fiat.

I'd still trust and XF Falcon over any FIAT to get me from part a. to part b. in Australia - reguardless of where you put those to points on the map, and whatever dry creek bed town you stopped at if you needed repairs, I bet Tony could actually fix the XF.

Don't knock the Ford connection. Your replacement fuel injectors could very well be Mustang parts! (and you would be thrilled to pay so little for them!) :D

Funny enough, Ford has some of the best engineered parts of any supplier, and they also have one of the best engineering departments in the entire car business.

The fact that they built crap cars is the fault of their bean counters that try to maximize profit and build cars for the common idiot - and we've seen how that's been going for them lately...

I'm pretty sure the electric window switches in my 308 are BMW parts. As said above Ferraris are made up from numerous parts. Its just not economical to tool up for everything. You think Ferraris are expensive now......... imagine if everything was uniquely Ferrari.

Double that. As a Pantera owner too (hey Robert!) the word 'Ford' may have four letters, but I trust their parts to work. If I'd taken off my Boxer's starter and seen Ford instead of Fiat, I'd have actually been relieved.
