I know a lot of people on this site may be able to help with my situation, and I wanted some advice.

My mother has a 2004 Ford T-Bird. She took the car last week to get new tires put on by a local garage that we've had some work done by in the past. She goes and picks up the car, drives home and notices that one of the tires is going flat.

We take the car back to the garage, and we come to find out that the techs had inflated the tire to 85 psi to fit it on the rim. They then inflate it to 100 psi to "try to find a leak." My dad does some research and finds that the rims are only rated to 45 psi. They've cracked one of the rims and may have damaged the other 3.

The owner then tells my mother that he knows a guy who can weld it ($100 - at our expense), or we can buy a new one from Ford ($650 with his discount for being a wholesale business or $1100 if we buy it - at our expense).

The wheels are cast Al... I don't trust a weld. What does everyone think? Should we get a lawyer?
