I've heard a few rumors. This seems like a really dumb move as AM is actually Making $$$ unlike Jag & other parts of FoMoCo

What effect, if any, would a sale have on factory and dealer warranty support? Any comments?

I look for Ford to dump Aston Martin and Jaguar. I don't see the point in keeping those lines unless Ford can successfully integrate some of the technology from the those brands into their more mainstream vehicles. DC has been somewhat successful in doing this, but I can't see the same happening with Ford. The best they've done is try to bring some of Volvo's safety into Ford automobiles. Sharing Aston Martin features with Ford products would severly tarnish the AM brand. Jaguar really needs to go to someone who will spend some time to improve the brand. Jag has been stagnant for quite some time, but has the potential to be great. I'd like to see BMW pick them both up.

According to an article I read in FT, Ford will dump to get short term influx of capital. Ford is scaling back and AM makes the best sense for # of reasons:

    1. AM makes their own engines so not hard to transition.
    2. Free's up Jag to move upscale (become profitable)/ not bumping on AM ceiling.
    3. AM is making money for the moment so Ford can pull out while the getting is good.

Good for AM b/c current Ulrich Bez (SP?) is prob going to be the buyer. He seems to have a great vision for AM and without Ford nanny could do even more drastic things for the company as owner/CEO.

Hate to say it, because I love the new Astons, but I wouldn't buy an Aston until the ownership issue is settled. If I had one, I don't know what I'd do. I wish Ford would keep Aston and sell Jag, but Jag may be unsellable at the moment.

BINGO! Still on life support. Ford still does not get the principle that you cannot sell an inferior product and charge "luxury" money for it. They have a way to go...
