Fore-Aft hard brake line placement?

Early (1972 and earlier) Dinos have the hard brake line running below the driver rocker panel. This line runs from the forward hydraulic manifold to the rear-mounted balance valve.

Newer Dinos have the same line running through a tube under the driver seat. My 1972 has the tube, which was without content (empty) upon disassembly. My hard brake line ran under the rocker panel. Now that I am assembling the car, would it be prudent (albeit not original) to run the line through the tube? Has anyone used this previously unused conduit? What are the pros and cons.
