Hi everyone, i have taken delivery of my 458 Speciale and would like to take it to Europe but cant seem to find a company to insure a car with foreign plates (Saudi registered) for a period of 1 month. Does anyone have any experience with this type of thing?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I have to tell you given the hundreds of Arab registered cars around London some of which at least must be being legally driven it cannot be impossible

One option must be to ask your local insurer to extend your standard cover - you could also talk to local (former) sponsor AIB AIB Insurance | Airsports Insurance Bureau or check out a few of the UK insurance threads - a final option might be to talk to a car dealer here who has relevant customers eg Macari or HROwen or maybe Topaz

Thanks a lot for your advice, will give them a call. Ive called over 10 UK based insurers and none of them will insure a foreign plated car (unless i was going to switch to UK plates) plus only needing the cover for 1 month was also an issue. Also the insurers in Saudi only extend the insurance to countries in the middle east and not the UK and EU

Thought this process would be a piece of cake considering the amount of middle eastern cars that are on the road in the UK and EU.

Took your advice GreyBoxer and it was spot on, thank you...really appreciate it.

Called H.R Owen and they referred me a company that they deal with and are able to do everything i needed. So if anyone needs this type of cover try "first point insurance". Havent tried them yet but the gentleman on the phone was very helpful and said they do this type of cover regularly.
